Marmite ....a mosquito repellent?

Marmite is a apparently a good mosquito repellent? Marmite contains Vitamin B and one particular type of Vitamin B is supposed to taste horrible to mosquitos - so if you eat lots then you won't get bitten. Has anyone found it works?

Not sure you would have seen any of the adverts for Marmite HHF, but they say "you either love it or hate it" - I think we know whose side your on!!

Don't know if it's a mossie repellent or not, but as i've never been bitten by one, it could be?

How much did you put on the bread/toast?
It only has to be a thin spread, unlike a girl i knew who gave her little boy a cheese & marmite sandwich where she spread the marmite like you would pickle!

No surprise he didn't eat it & it put him off for life

I love it. Grew up eating Marmite sandwiches packed into our lunch boxes for school. I still love peanut butter on toast as well, and it seems Thais tend to like peanut butter as well once they actually taste it. Between my wife, my MIL, and my kids, a big jar is gone withing a few days. Fortunately I get to keep all the Marmite to myself.

I love the stuff, but "spooning it in" would cause me some grief!!

I'm so happy to read comments like this, as I was brought up on Bovril (on my toast, not as a drink). Then again, I've never liked tea and I was in the Boys Brigade rather than the scouts.

IMHO Marmite should be re-classified as a chemical weapon. It brings tears to my glass eye.

I knew an old boy used to put a teaspoonful in a pint of hot water cool it down and use it as a spray.
