Little India - Poonsuk
Little India - Poonsuk
Went to Little India with a friend yesterday, and was very impressed with the food.
As you'd expect from the location, it's a little more expensive than the out of town places, but not massively over the top. We had 2 starters, 3 curries, another main dish, 2 naans, a plate of rice, and 4 beers (no, apart from the beer, we didn't manage to get even close to finishing it all between the two of us!) and the bill just under 1400bt if I remember correctly.
It was certainly the best Indian I've had in Hua Hin for a long time.

I walked past recently and looked at the menu and noted it was 250 baht for most chicken curries, the same price as the other empty Indian I pass every week opposite All Nations GH. A lady came out and explained it was as Pleng says 'cos the rent is so high, 40,000 Baht per month.

Yes, I stopped in there yesterday evening and picked up some take away food. I also thought the prices could be a bit less, but I also realize that rentals are not cheap in that part of town. Service was good and the lady owner was nice and friendly, and I would certainly say it's refreshing to have something different in the area, rather than only Thai and European foods. My mutton samosas where very nice, although not quite what I'm used to. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my food.
As a matter of interest, how do their prices compare to the place in soi 94?

S & S on soi 94 is way cheaper. Chicken curries under 90 baht & lamb curries about 130-150 baht.As a matter of interest, how do their prices compare to the place in soi 94?
We get takeaways from there often.

I've eaten there and had a couple of takeaways and the food was very good. The owner is very pleasant and clearly wants to please her customers. I wish her well. Yes, it may be a bit more expensive but it is also very well furnished and very clean. A nice dining experience and worth paying a bit more.

Wife and I are both avid good Indian food critics. Visited this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the various items we ordered. I personally always use mutton curry as a guide line and was not disappointed.
Sure, a little more expensive than most, it was good value due to the quality of the food, service and atmosphere.
They will have a take away menu available in a couple of days.

Heh. As I said it was way too much. Could have easily fed another person. Probably 2 more people with an extra plate of rice. I think it's a mentality thing. As I don't eat Indain very often, I tend to over order. I really, really, should go with more people!
