Looked convincing to me if they put there chances away, banned for the next game, unfairly in my opinion as he got a knee in the thigh and a tug :D

More from Tottenham winger Gareth Bale:
"That's the third time now I've been clipped and booked for no reason again. There's nothing I can do, the referees need to look a bit closer. People think I'm diving when there's contact. If there's contact it's a penalty or free kick, there's nothing I can do. If there's contact, what do you want me to do - hit my head on the floor? I have to put my hands down to protect myself. If people kick me, I'm going to go down. It doesn't bother me, people keep saying I'm diving but it doesn't bother me whatsoever. It's a foul and I know it myself."

Yeah, I've just seen it again, there was minor contact, but you reap what you sow - literally in Bales case! :)

Edit, just read JG's edit quoting Bale, if ever there was a case for someone keeping their mouth shut, that's it. Giving him a law book might help as well........

He hams it up like Suarez, i do think Bale dives but i also think he gets carded to freely, possibly of his own making.

Fair start to the 3 o'clocks isn't it?

Hardly convincing? Jesus... what do you want? 0-8?
Spurs managed to make harder work of it than necessary, but it was as convincing as the away win at Villa and as the one we should have won at Everton!

I'll say (yet again) that our main problem is we are not putting away nearly enough of the chances we are getting. I'll also say that Bale is on fire and that we will be dead lucky if he's still at Spurs next season.

As for the Bale thing, you obviously saw the game and heard the commentary so unless you're deaf and blind you know the answer. You also know that the booking was wrong.

The problem is not so much with the likes of Bale and Suarez, but with the generally accepted attitude that a dive is not a dive if there is "contact". Players go down unnecessarily all the time these days, but if there is "contact" then it's fine. I think that's ballocks, but I don't make the rules. Bale didn't need to go down, and I wouldn't be too upset if the ref didn't give a penalty (though it looked a dead cert to me), but it seems to me that the ref wouldn't be waving that card around if he saw what we all saw in the replay.

Bale misses the next game at home to Reading. While not wanting to tempt fate, that should simply be a good opportunity to give him a rest.

Considering what a pig's ear we've made of so many games, we ain't doin' too bad!

The trouble is refs are appalling, I've seen both Suarez and Bale get nothing for fouls when they've stayed up and both get yellows when hacked.

I don't see a problem with dropping when clattered, it's full swallow dives I see as cheating.

It's also not a coincidence that arguably the quickest flying winger and the most awkward, quick footed striker are the "divers"

That's pretty much what Bale has admitted to with his comments as quoted by JG!

At the end of the day, I don't actually blame the refs, the blame starts with the players and clubs. Thats where it needs to be tackled ('scuse pun).

Boring Arsenal. Then again, I have done one of my biggest mistakes in life, I was considering buying Theo for my fantasy premier league team but then didn't. What helps me to recover is that I also considered Bale for that and didn'nt. Now, I'll go and fill me glass with some nice claret.

Has he not more admitted trying to be "cute"?

Suarez doesn't swallow dive, he exaggerates, he's just a poor actor.

PS: missed the Arsenal game, damn it. :P

Aston Villa 0 Wigan 3.....what a week for them....0-8,0-4 and now stuffed at home by relegation rivals.
Gives hope for the bottom two clubs....Reading won yesterday, probably QPR tonight,as well ? :rasta:
