Online news:
Surat Thani: Authorities on Koh Samui have been ordered to stay alert around the clock after a downpour flooded many parts of the island on Monday.
Prasert Jitmung, the Samui district chief, urged officials to remain vigilant and be prepared to help people to escape the floods.
Many areas on the island were inundated, some of them by up to 30 centimetres, after rains hit Koh Samui on Monday. Officials prevented floods on key roads in popular areas including Chaweng and Bor Phud beaches.
The Meteorological Department on Monday warned of heavy rain in Surat Thani, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Prachuap Khiri Khan until Wednesday.
''Abundant rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely in the South,'' it said in a statement released at 4.30pm.
Waves could be about two metres high and small boats are advised not to leave the shore.
The district chief said ferry services between Samui and the mainland have not been disrupted but urged operators to closely monitor weather forecasts.

Re: Floods Hit Samui
They have been replacing the storm drains for the last few months and the heavy rain we are having here hasn't caused that much flooding compared to last year. More a case of patches of standing water rather than flooding. The drains seem to be doing the trick.
I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!
