Medical Checkup @ Bangkok Hospital, Bangkok

Post by aragon »

I have checked their website and unfortunately it looks as though BH in HH do not do much by way of medical checkup packages (only the pre-marital and pre-pregnancy that I can see.......both way too late for me :naughty: ), so am booked into BH in Bangkok when we are over in December for their Absolute Male Checkup package and was wondering if anyone else on here has any experience of it and if so what their thoughts were?

I haven't used BH for this before but had the equivalent at Bumrungrad Hospital a few years back and although it was very thorough and the service was first class, I couldn't help feeling somewhat like a piece of meat being processed through a factory and there was always that little niggle that they were looking for every little blimp on the screen to try and sell additional tests and/or services not already included in the package. Could be totally wrong, but just checking.

BH in Hua hin does do a range of full check ups similar but not identical to Bum in BKK. I have had them done at both places and preferred the service in HH due to the fewer number of people having a check up at the same time and a feeling of a more personal service from all involved. I did however prefer the doctor informing me of the results at Bum because he was older and more experienced than the very young lady doctor I saw in HH. Bum did not try to sell me any further tests but BH in HH advised me to see a chest specialist because of the radiologists report on my chest Xray which the chest specialist concluded was normal after all. I plan to have next years check up done again in HH.

I did both Bumrungrad and BH (Hua Hin). Bumrungrad was a much better experience.

BH Hua Hin were just not as well organised or professional, moreover, they messed-up in providing me with my final report - took a long time to get it. Bumrungrad was busy but conveyor-belt type system meant I was able to do all tests in a couple of hours and have my final report waiting for me.

duan, jingjoe & Scotian, apologies for the late response, thanks for the input, obviously having the checkup done whilst we are in HH is preferable to having to stop off in BKK on the way through to HH to have it, but as we are only going to be in HH for a couple of weeks I do want to get the checkup out of the way with the final report presented in as short a time as possible, so hopefully we can then get on and enjoy the remainder of our break. Looks like I'll have to think about this one. :thanks:

I had it done in both places and prefer Bumrungrad. The cost at BUM was higher but I was able to join thier Healthy living club which basically paid for the checkup and gives me 20% discount for all future meds and service over 3 years. You may want to check that out?

Thanks stieveboy I'll look into that, in the meantime I've booked to have the checkup done at BH HH this time, as with our travel plans it's just more convenient, but this might be an option going forward as I did like the service at Bum when I went there.

jingjoe, certainly will. The cost I already know and it's the same as they charge at the Bangkok clinic, Thb16,500 for the Absolute Male Checkup (see this page for what's included http://www.bangkokhospital.com/packages ... -check-up/), but I'll update you on the actual checkup once done.
