Contact Lenses
Contact Lenses
I need a particular type of Contact Lens and have tried to find them everywhere here in HH and further afield without success. My brother can ship them from the UK but the question is:- Will they be subject to import tax/duty?
Re: Contact Lenses
Good question Bernard. I wear multi focal lens which are not yet available in Thailand for some reason. I brought a years + supply with me which I had posted from the supplier in the UK to Saudi Arabia and hand carried them here. But soon I will be looking to order another batch so I will have the same problem. I could also do to have my eyes tested also but not sure if a Thai optician would know how to prescribe something not available here.

Re: Contact Lenses
UPDATE: I may have the answer to my own original question. I've spoken to a senior member of Customs who I met a while back when I was hit for some import duty and he says that I will be taxed on anything that is brought into Thailand if the value exceeds 1000 Baht. When I said that these were contact lenses which have been prescribed for me by a qualified optician in the UK and are NOT available in Thailand, he said, "If they are valued at over 1000 Baht you will have to pay duty"!
