Sounds like stamp collecting to me! :(

Reminds me of a guy I bumped into inter-railing many years ago. He was gonna bag all the capital cities in europe in three weeks. Whats the point and big deal?

I realised something in Phimai last August - that I was all travelled out. For now.

China and Thailands neighbours are all that interest me.

Must see the Scottish highlands before I leave these shores though!

Caller,
to actually be "collecting" countries would be pointless. I agree. But the question in this thread made me revive some interesting memories and I also, for the first time, realised that I over the years have done quite a bit of travelling. This made me feel good, as I have almost had a bad conscience for not longing to pack my bag very often lately.

As I said in my post earlier though, I would have enjoyed to have every poster pick three favourite places or countries to visit. That would have added a little more quality to all the quantity, and perhaps even revived the old wanderlust. :o

Pretty much everywhere except Africa and and South America, but who cares. This thread seems to be just bragging lists. All I want is Hua Hin and Bang Saphan. See you in 2 weeks.

Wow, who knew such a simple question would be accused of being so shallow.

I do not "collect" countries but I sure am going to try and visit as many as I can... I only have one life and I'd like to see what the world has. Some people may like to sit at home their whole life, some may travel just a bit, and others like to travel a lot-- I do not see how it is bragging to say where we have been. :P

My favourite destinations so far have been the islands of Greece, Austria, and Japan.

I am hoping to visit South America, Africa, the Middle East (maybe some day), and more of Asia.
As of mid August I am on vacation via traveling around the globe and I am not returning until the end of November (I have no Internet access until I return). Have fun!

Interesting question. Have passed through a lot of countries. (1 or 2 nights). To have visited, implies some time in the country and some knowledge of the people. history and culture. I recall visiting 15 countries in the Americas, 10 in Africa and the Middle East, 22 in Eurpoe and 10 Asian countries. There are several others that I have passed through. Besides Canada, (Home Sweet Home) favouites include Barbados, Mexico, Kenya, Scotland and of course LOS. 8)

Hmmmm, Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, N Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Monaco, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Denmark, Mexico, Malaysia, India & Thailand.

6 Months on a kibbutz in Israel & travelling Egypt, 8 months Australia & NZ, 2 months Morocco, 2 months Mexico & 12 months on & off in Thailand. All the other places have either been for work or holidays.

I think that's about it.

I don't think it's bragging (especially as my list is shorter than most! ), I agree it's interesting to know how much other members have seen.
My list: Germany, Denmark, Holland (Netherlands, sorry), all of UK except Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, USA (Florida only  ), Australia, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, France & Thailand I think that's it.

Favourites are definitely Thailand & Australia. Lived in HK for 7 years, but isn't a favourite.

I thought it was an interesting subject too, my favourites were Thailand & NZ, Australia just didn't do it for me I'm afraid.
