The title of this post may be a little misleading, as it covers all four of the forums' headings......... Legal, Visa, Finances & Employment
Thats said, heres my question:
Say one invested a not inconsiderable amount of money in a business venture, which, for obvious reasons would be run and staffed by Thais. Those reasons being ones of not having to faff about with getting work permits, different visa requirements, taxes (BLERGH!!!!) and all that. I would just be seeking a fairly quiet life, but with some say in the running of it. This "not inconsiderable amount of money" wouldnt be based on any set figure, and would probably be a "rolling" type of investment. That is, pump a little money in as and when needed, if theres a return on it, and would come mainly, though not exclusively from past net profits of the business.
............BUT !!!!! How does one go about making sure this investment was being looked after in a proper manner by those employed? I suppose i'm talking about supervision and training. Would this be allowed without going through the rigmarole as describrd earlier in the post?
I best give an example of what i mean.
Say ones skillset from home was that of, say a bricklayer, carpenter, sparks, or any such skill, it doesnt really matter what, it could be something one has an aptitude for.
Could one say to an employee "THIS is how i want this doing" and then show him/her how its done. The last part of that sentence holds the key.......physically involving oneself by showing how it should be done.
Is this aspect of it a BIG no-no, a minor bending of rules, or something thats allowed/tolerated by the authorities.

You have to ask yourself the question...Would a venture with the same attention work in your home country?
Answer is No, so why would it work in Thailand?

Yes, you could say that. And that's about it.
The Thai worker will do it the way he wants to do it, right or wrong, stupid or not. Falangs are not high on the must-listen-to scale.
