May we also apologise on behalf of those that post idiotic remarks on many of the genuine threads and information requests these days, we will be monitoring them closely in an effort to return this forum to the friendly place it used to be.

I think there were more serious replies to the original quest than wisecracks.
However I do feel that some questions seem to be a little daft. Wanting to go to an ice factory to fill a portable foam box would be like looking for a dairy to put some milk a cup of tea.
By all means ask about hard to find items and services but for me silly questions will get silly replies.
This is an adult forum used mainly by expats who have managed to relocate around the world without having to resort to a forum to find out where to buy everyday items.
Oh .......... and there may be some sarcasm..........but never from me

OK, I must be pretty stupid then.

En-route to our new house every day (obviously before we moved in) we stopped off at the ice shop to fill our styrofoam box with ice cubes to ensure we had cold drinks throughout the day.

Additionally, for several years now, whenever we've had parties, we've hired a huge cold box from the ice shop, and had it filled with ice to keep drinks ice cold.

It all sounds logical to me :?

^ Yep, we do the same with the styrofoam/polystyrene box - works wonders.

Why it's a daft question as to where to do this God only knows..

BB - what's the cost to hire the cold box? Presumably they deliver it?....... stupid question, I know!

I've just asked Mrs BB, and she says it cost 150 Baht including one sack of ice.

Regarding the validity of the question, if you don't know something, you'll never find out if you don't ask. All answers are simple if you know them.

I think you are missing the point.
The question was imo daft. Ice is available as you pointed out in 7 -11 s in bags and in most small shops loose..........it is very cheap. Needing to ask where to buy such a small amount of is ridiculous and resulting remarks were on the whole deserved.
Yes I do not doubt an ice supplier would sell you a small quantity and yes for party use would be preferable.
And before another "pretty stupid" post comes along........ A dairy may put some milk in your tea if you are passing on your way home

Oh and by the way I have used Ice suppliers many times for functions and the large ice chests have always been loaned free of charge.

If people consider questions "daft" they should stay off the thread instead of posting playground wisecracks that achieve nothing but ill feeling.

But he didn't ask for small quantities. He asked for a styrophome box full.

I've used these shops many times, also to fill up a box. Mostly during BBQ's and the like. The place I used was in Bon Gai but can't remember the name or number I'm afraid. As Big Boy said, some of them deliver too which was a must for myself as I couldn't really get away with putting it in the motorbikes basket. :D

Bon Kai is the shop I was talking about, so the contact number is already on this thread. Deliveries are always within the hour at no extra charge e.g. when ordering the big bottles of water, we always get 3 at a time. Delivered into the kitchen, the cost is 36 Baht.
