The Hilton (again). Friendlyness.

Post by suede »

I read somewhere that there are two types of rooms (and I don´t mean bay room/gulf room now.... I think). One facing the south and one the north ? Supposedly the one where you can see most of the village, beach and of course water, was the best (possibly the ones facing north?) but still both locations have full sea view as far as I know.

The author could have meant the gulf rooms though.
Anyone know of how big the chances are you can change your room at arrival? Lets say there are two types of Bay Rooms (the 42squaremetre deluxe room.. or in hilton standards.. "standard" room:D), and you get the one least attractive (when booking through agency). Could you perhaps request a different room? From what I´ve heard thais are known to be nice and into every possible sollution to a problem but does this also apply at the Hilton?

Hi Suede

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times but I have never had to change rooms so can't really answer your question.

I think I have always had a least a partial sea view.

In terms of being friendly and solving problems, I can't fault the staff there at all.

Hi there Seasider!

Roger that. Partial view? every site available states that any room will have ocean view. Bay Rooms ( the standard 42 square meter room) and Gulf Rooms (60 square meters and two balconies). Which one did you stay in? You wouldn´t happen to have some pictures to share?

I´ve heard the breakfast is really great too. Also, someone stated that there´s a lack of chairs out by the pool - I read somewhere that you can actually ask for, say, two, extra chairs and someone will bring them out for you.

Suede,

Never stayed there but booked rooms for mates.
Was told ALL their rooms have sea view (at least partial).

Personally I would say the South facing rooms would be bettererererer as you will look accross the main Hua Hin beach to Khao Takiab (Hill).
Bring your binoculars and you may see a monkey or two on Takiab Hill from your room, if you don't have any binoculars just pop down to the Hilton disco and you'll see loads :D

Oh I see. Yeah, that´s what I had heard anyway, that the rooms facing south has a little more attractive view. One does wonder though, what "partial sea view" actually means. :)

You´ve booked rooms for friends. Do you live in HH? And speak thai or something?

This was the view from one of the two 8) balconies at my Hilton room:

The room was great, but a bit too large.

Reminds me of the view I had, first time I was there, when I think it was the Melia. Re: the size of the room, give 'em a bit of notice, I'm sure they'll knock a wall in here or there. I personally thought the bed was 6 inches too far away from the balcony, but no doubt others would disagree!

Fortunately the beds are very large, that compensates about 4 inches on both sides ;) .
I was travelling on my own, and therefore felt a bit lost in that room.
And I would have appreciated a smaller price for a smaller room.

Yes, there is a safe in the room.
I found the breakfast excellent, with a variety that was decadently wide.
The swimming pool is not of olympic size, but definitely not small, you can swim some lenghts. Perhaps you could try Google earth or Google maps to check the size.

Who else knows the combination or can it be reset by each individual guest?

We stayed there once and it was nice, they were great with our son.

We found the breakfast to be nice, the swimming pool is quite large.

And there was an in room safe.

If I recall correctly it was an electronic lock that allowed the guest to set the combination.
As of mid August I am on vacation via traveling around the globe and I am not returning until the end of November (I have no Internet access until I return). Have fun!

Yeah, they are electronic and you reset them to your own code when you arrive. These are the same sort of safe I are found in upmarket hotels all over the world. Of course they can be opened by in-house staff but most places have a security system in place that means that two staff have to be present to do that.
