If this qualifying is a sign of whats to come then its gonna be another great season - Ferrari...wots going on there, car looks like a reliant robin and how did Massa retain a drive, he has no pace and no balls anymore - its a shame - before his accident a few years ago he was still on it but last season was full of mistakes and lack of speed.

As Lomu pointed out in another thread, the Red Bull Thai founder died today. Perhaps could have positive or negative impact on the team....meaning either inspired to win one for him, or depressed. Pete

The first one is now in the books and we have four red hot players! Pitsch and JJ Bones had the best race, both with 11.00 points, Terry with 10.50, and RZR with 10.00. Pitsch, JJ Bones and Terry were the only ones to pick Button to win. Targets are now on your backs gentlemen for the rest of us.

The Malaysian GP is next up, Sunday, March 25. Good luck to all! :thumb: Pete

5 - BigBoy 8.50
6 - Vital Spark 8.25

9 - Parahandy 7.50
10 - lindosfan 7.00

Were we all so bad, or does the new scoring regime lend itself to lower scores overall?

It's harder this year IMO in that 4-6th and 7-10th are two separate categories. Past seasons it was one.

I'm also not convinced that the 2 point early bird bonus before qualifying is worth it. If I would have waited and been lead by the line up results, I definitely would have done better in the end than 2 points. But, but, but....if you wait, you become ineligible for the Pole Position 1 point as well, so you could be be back by 3 before it even begins. The only way to tell which is the better strategy is to track the first few races and look at the finishes based upon start grid position. Even then though there are no guarantees going forward...just odds. Pete

When you're as good as me, you need the Early Bird bonus to ensure you score each week

.....another thing. Last season I don't think 2nd and 3rd had to be in correct order, this year they do. Pete

Everyone should visit the below page concerning scoring:

http://www.superbru.com/f1/how_to_play_scoring.asp

It looks to me that 15.5 points is a perfect score. Something to aspire to.  Pete

Just finished watching the race....yawn....fell asleep halfway through...woke up...nothing had changed.

Well done Pitch and JJB - the first race is always a bit of a lottery, but you must have done your homework. I must admit when I made my picks, about 30 minutes before qualifying, I got affer confused. I wasn't prepared to have to be so accurate with the placings. Ended up picking drivers twice, because I forgot who I'd already picked. I guess I'll have to prepare myself a bit better for the next one.

P.S. Does Jensen know that his Dad's always pawing his girlfriend? Why has Lewis' mum started turning up to races?

Nice one Mr.T :lach:

DM: I've just seen your weak excuse about not joining in on the fun. If you ask Mr.VS for some advice on making your choices, then you won't be in the embarrassing position of being ahead of me. :duck:

Terry..love it! :thumb:

Hamilton has about as much class as Wayne Rooney, the way he handles himself makes him look so stupid among the real professional guys out there.

Felt so sorry for Grosjean who was unlucky to get involved in a fender bender, he had great pace and also Maldonado who showed that he is a real racer (lacking experience!) by still going balls out on the last lap, surely his race engineer should have been telling him to ease off?

Ferrari are in a world of trouble, Alonso drove a great race in a car that handles like a Reliant robin, I am sure they can get the car sorted in a month or so but what are they going to do with Massa, how is he still get a seat in the car, he was average all last season, he really has lost the ability to drive on the edge - someone else really deserves that seat.

Onto Sepang, I guess we will all do better next race however long term forecast gives a 90% chance of rain.... well hello Mr Schumacher!!!!

90% chance of rain in the afternoon at KL - I would never have guessed 8)
Having been to sepang and watched it in 2002 / 3 / 4 it is always a very testing race - hot - humid and yes sometimes wet.

Good weather for Mr. Button methinks
Mr. Schumacher? - I don't think so

So what ever was wrong with the Reliant Robin (or Robin Reliant, as it was known in Suffolk for no reason that I could fathom)? All you had to do to drive the thing properly was to keep the power going to the rear wheels when cornering. This balanced out the lack of grip at the front and meant that you hit the tree sideways instead of going in head-on. Simple really. Not unlike some of today's F1 drivers, come to think of it...
