Travel from Bangkok

Post by jljinhi »

Can anyone suggest the best way for me to travel down from Bangkok. I will have suitcase and golf clubs so while somewhat mobile, the bus is probably not the best way. I recall several affordable taxis in Hua Hin, but arranging from Bangkok will be expensive. Is the train reasonable and does it go from airport or just twon?

Thanks

Meter Taxi should be under 2000.

You could try a new topic, "Share a Taxi from Bkk to HH"and put your date of arrival. Maybe someone arriving same day could split the cost with you.

There are vans that go to hua hin from right next to the BTS stop at victory monument. It's 180B each way. They are air conditioned and Im sure they could accomodate your clubs and suitcase.
Worst case is that you'd have to buy another seat for your clubs if there isn't room.

I can't visualize a set of clubs fitting in that van type. Too tall for the storage area in back or sit upright in a seat - and nothing to keep them from falling onto the floor. Too bulky to fit in the narrow room between the back of one seat row and the front of the next. Too long to lie down on two seats without blocking the aisle.

Dusit Thani runs a Mercedes Sprinter van between their Bangkok and Hua Hin hotels.. They can tell you if a set of clubs fits.

Silly me, I thought being able to afford golf meant one could afford taxis.

Sewercamel,
As has been said so many times on this forum you need to be very cautious about using these vans.Use them if you are after a cheap and frequent and fast service. But be prepared to never arrive alive. There have been many horrific accidents with them as reported in this and other forums. One foreign reporter claimed they are nothing more than " 2 tonne gas bombs hurtling down Thailands highways at near jet speeds."
Complexity is so simply overrated

:agree:

I've used them in the past but wouldn't go near them now and certainly not with family.

They're death traps, as we see regularly in the News.
