GP2 champion Romain Grosjean will drive for Renault, who will become Lotus in 2012, alongside returning 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen next season.

Grosjean, 25, raced seven times for Renault in 2009 but failed to impress alongside team-mate Fernando Alonso.

"There's a big grin on my face at the prospect of getting behind the wheel of next year's car," Grosjean said.

The team's current line-up of Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna are currently without a drive for 2012.......

"Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that the sport "will not be big in America".

Formula 1 is due to return to the United States with a race in Texas in 2012, with a second race planned in New Jersey from 2013......."

Does anybody know what the Star Sports (Or is it ESPN? What channel is it on over here these days??) commentary / build line up will be this year? Thankfully the BBC have taken Gary Anderson away, but I guess Steve Slater is unfortunately staying?

Shame, I though the BBCs commentary pairing last year was top notch, finally!

Both SKY and BBC's commentary partnerships leave at least one half wanting; so it hardly seems worthwhile viewing through proxy this year.

ESPN is 108 and Star Sports 109 on True Visions. I think I recall it being on Star, but since Star is actually owned by ESPN I guess they could rotate. No sign of a published broadcast schedule yet that I can find. Pete

So far the only conventional looking car to be unveiled is the McLaren. Caterham, Ferrari, and Force India all have 2-step noses. Will be interesting to see if any of the other teams have gone the McLaren route as they launch their cars; and will we see another last-minute design rethink from McLaren ?

Still no word on the commentary line up. The closest clue I have found is that Steve Slater's blog on ESPN hasn't been updated since 2 December last year. With Gary Anderson having gone over to BBC, is it possible that ESPN have dropped Mr Slater and decided to take the Sky feed for commentary?

Nothing spectacular happening in testing. Ferarri struggling with their new car, McLaren & Red Bull still playing their cards close to their chest. Usual 'super shock' headlines of Williams, Sauber and Force India putting in fastest times for the day.

Caterham don't appear to have made the step forward they were hoping to.

Marussia and HRT yet to launch their 2012 cars. Marussia look likely to introduce theirs in the final test next week, HRT still going through crash test procedures and again look unlikely to have the car on track before the first free practice session in Australia.

Giving this one a bump. First race is only a week away and we only have 5 who have joined up so far. Come on everyone from last season, and anyone new who wants to give it a shot. We really need at least 10. Pete
