I don't live in Thailand but I've been checking the weather in Hua Hin and comparing the temperature to Bangkok. About the same.
But someone told me that Hua Hin feels lot cooler than Bangkok because of the ocean breeze.
Any truth in that?

I was there at the end of June, beginning of July last year and the weather was great.
Got a couple of short showers during the day, after that sun would come out again.
The temp was hotter than I expected even at night.
There is no need to take a lot of long pants, a pair of jeans and one pair of dress trousers, the rest just need to be shorts and swimmers.
Have a great trip.

Hi
I know people must get bored of talking about the weather - but can anybody who lives there tell me what it's like at the moment. I have been going on wunderground for weeks and it has always been overcast and rainy. I am due to arrive next Friday and although I don't mind short sharp bursts of rain I will be gutted if I hardly see the sun for two weeks!
It didn't help that I read a review on Tripadvisor from a guy who's just come back saying that it was poor weather for seven days out of eight!

Well, it's been raining a lot over the past , but I think it should clear up before you arrive.
The other factor is that you can easily burn through thick cloud. Don't ever forget that.
If you'd come a few months ago, during summer, you'd never have been able to "bask in the sunshine" without suffering serious burns afterwards. The sun's too fierce.
Whatever, it's hot, humid and good fun

Too true. This may seem like an exaggeration if you've never been before but it is good advice. The sun really is blazingly fierce during April. I suffered my one and only case of sun-stroke after a day trip to Hua Hin. Spent the next three days in a state of semi-consciousness at a friend's condo in BKK drenched in sweat and hallucinating. No drugs involved either, honest! The strangest one was waking up to see that I was covered by a huge cargo net, in the middle of which was a big knot that I was struggling with immense frustration to undo for what seemed like hours. God, it was weird but felt so real!lomuamart wrote:If you'd come a few months ago, during summer, you'd never have been able to "bask in the sunshine" without suffering serious burns afterwards. As Lomu posted, it will be hot and humid and I'm sure you'll find that you will still be able to do most of the things you want to do even if it rains a bit.

I'd normally say bollocks to all that and just look out of the window.
Just did that and "overcast and rainy" just about sums it up .... for the last 2 weeks.

Thanks for the replies guys.
This will be our third trip to Hua Hin and both the other occasions have been in April. I agree it was too hot then and you had to be very careful in the sun.
We are hoping to get about more this year and if it is overcast and rainy I guess we'll have plenty of time to do that! Perhaps I'll get a spray tan when I get home!

Was In HH at this time last year and had great weather, was normally overcast in the morning, had a shower early lunchtime/afternoon and after that was great.
The showers clear the air of the humidity, so is also a welcome relief.
Survival tactics if you are out in town when the showers come, look for the nearest bar that serves lunch and sit there until it stops, if in a hotel, same rule applies.
There are a few beachbars near the town, the one we found the best is the one just down from the Sofitel going towards Koh Takiab, beach. Chairs are cheap, service is good and so is the food (do not be put off by the looks of the place).
Am just about to leave for Samui for two weeks and then will be in HH from the 24th to 30th July
