Calling for O Negative blood group donor(s) in Hua Hin

We are publicly asking Hua Hin's expats and board members if they can help with a donation of blood group O negative.

The problem is that less than1% of Asians are O neg but 15% of caucs are Neg and about 40%of them are O neg.
Blood Banks are a little reluctant to take blood for DESIGNATED recipients but dont be detered, the answer is to provide them with more than the patients needs then there is almost never a problem. Some hospital do not bleed donors and you may have to go to a Red Cross center.

The other reason that there is ALWAYS a shortage of ONeg EVERYWHERE is that O neg is the UNIVERSAL DONOR, you can give it to anybody--if a patient comes in bleeding heavily and there is no time to test for the Blood group we give O Neg blood.

You probably need several donors--- enough blood to prime the pump and transfuse. Propably 5or 6

Lev Hi. What we did here on Samui was to ask for people who were prepared to donate blood to contact a local forum and give their details. The guy running the local Round Table arranged it. Their names, blood group and contact details were then put onto a data base and this was then given to the local hospitals. in the event of someone needing blood urgently they could contact the people directly and so save time. Maybe HHAD could do the same ?
I'm sure there are plenty of ex pats willing to donate.

Very few Hua-Hin expats even read this forum, and of the ones that do, there may not be anyone with O neg blood. I worked for a blood transfusion service in South Africa for a while, and I can assure you, we had very few O neg donors.

O positive is a different matter altogether, and if this add had been for O pos, I would gladly give, as I have done in the past.

I'm O-neg unfortunately i'm over working in Canada at the moment so unable to help, and not due back for a few weeks until mid-May.

I have just donated blood, but what I did not realise was that the Red Cross has a blood donation centre. It is staffed by pleasant people, who do not speak much English, and the blood donation room is clean and modern. It took less than 30 minutes to donate blood, and I would say that they will accept any type. If you want to donate, then go to the rear of the Red Cross Centre, beside the Tessabaan, but take someone who can translate for you.
