I've been too busy watching out for idiot drivers on the wrong side of the road to notice the sign there, but will stop and have a look. My wife still says this is soi 6, and she says all of the Thais call this soi 6. Soi 4 is where the new Makro is.

The point is, is that it is off of the Canal Road.

Why not help the local markets and the poor people rather than support multinational corporations that will one day control the entire world?

I thought this thread was about road safety? :?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

This is a serious thread about attacks upon foreigners on Hua Hin's roads, please keep it on topic.

General banter belongs in the Foo section.

I am not sure if this is in the right section. I did read something recently about the danger of travelling on roads in Thailand.
I really do think that Thailand should address their road safety problems. I know there are accidents everywhere in the world, but Thailnd seems to have more of it's share than other countries.
Yesterday I read this in the weekend paper, well worth a read.

The three mothers united in grief after their sons were killed in horrific bus crash during Thailand holiday

I wonder if this Monstrous queef was the anonymous fool who wrote this quote?
I was driving on the road today with me misses on me drivers tuk tuk and I got dust in me eyes from all the construction crews dirt that was left on the roads and me driver almost crashed into a police truck who went flying past us and turned into our lane without even turning on his signal! If I had me spectacles -NOT HALFWAY OFF MY FACE from the near accident I would have got a better view of the officers plates and reported him! My driver didnt want any problems with the police and I wonder why that would be? Whose paying who for protection??? The construction crews, the police and the tuk tuk drivers? AM I in Phuket or is this Hua hin's version of the twilight zone????

prcscct wrote:Yes, good advice to turn around and hightail it out of there. You and your friend were lucky that they didn't pull a gun, knife or machete when you both started to fight back. In my mind there is always the question if events like this are really attempted robbery, or a case of Farang bashing. There are plenty of Thais here who don't like us, and with a few drinks under their belt the urge to release pent up anger may manifest itself. Just a thought.

I'm glad for both of you that it turned out like it did. Pete

Guess it time to start packing a weapon :guns:

Firstly i Hope Mr Ayling is recovering

AS for Juergen and others

Getting a number plate and a description helps as my other thread "help catch a farang HIT & RUN Motorcyclist" shows

Give the expat community something to look for, keep confidential info to PMs and you will be rewarded with a lot of help

So get as much visable info as you can and get out quickly, go to the police & then post it on here let the expat community be your eyes and ears would be my advice

Hmmm thinking of moving from Phuket to Hua Hin one reason for move is the Phuket roads are so dangerous Public safetey in general here in Phuket means nothing, no rules of the roads are followed here....
One technique for road robbers here is to string fishing line or a small chain accross the road and yank you off your bike that way,
usually farang victims late at night perpitrtors never too be seen..
so be careful out there
