Re: Pitbulls
Then should this breed be eliminated from the face of the earth?......894 people are killed each year in the U.S. by sheep

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I'm still curious as to why anyone would actually want a pitbull if it's not for it's violent reputation as they're pretty nasty, ugly looking things and most other breeds would make better pets.
Yes, the statistics come from US and Canadian press reports, but in those countries, there is far more control as far as things like this are concerned. Even a minor dog bite has to be logged and reported if the victim goes for treatment. In Thailand, such disputes are settled the Thai way.......either plenty of apologies, smiles, and some sort of gift, or else through shooting or poisoning the bad dog. People get killed here and it doesn't even make the papers, but in the US it's different. The fact is, as SJ has pointed out, sheep kill more people than all dog breeds do collectively.
Why would anyone want a pit bull other than for its aggression? I got mine simply because I think they're nice dogs, and also to show all those who ended up meeting him, that they are not a breed from hell. Contrary to popular belief, they are actually very good with kids, although they may become very protective, especially if they're always being made a fuss of. Wipe pit bulls off the face of the earth, and the media will soon home in on another breed.
To give you an idea as to how "non aggressive" a pit bull is when brought up correctly.......I would actually like to have a dog now that I know will protect our home, and everyone living in our home. If some bum breaks in, they deserve to get bitten, and that's just the way I see it. With that in mind, I wouldn't dream of getting a pit bull, because if my past experience is anything to go by, getting one would be pointless. I have the same to say about rottweilers............my next dog will not be a rottweiler, because while they may look scary, most are actually wonderfully friendly, and my even more so. Some forum member can attest to this. My chickens pose a greater threat than my rottweiler, and while I know all rottweilers are not the same, I have had the pleasure of knowing many that were.
Wanting a guard dog next time, when my rotti moves on to doggy heaven, it'll be a doberman. They're well balanced dogs, they're fantastic with kids, the don't bother strangers, and along with those great qualities, they're most definitely willing to protect and guard. In my opinion, the greatest dog on the planet, and sooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to train.
In a nutshell, I don't think and species or breed of any animal should intentionally be driven to extinction...........even pit bulls. You should get one and raise it as you would any other dog. You might be surprised at just how friendly a normal one is.

Re: Pitbulls
I'll be more than willing to eat any and all aggressive sheep, while I'm sure there are enough Isaan people willing to eat the problem pit bulls.

Re: Pitbulls
... but will you eat the problem "footie" fans who are more violent than dogs or sheep?

Re: Pitbulls
Any dog that is roaming free and is inclined to attack people should be eliminated regardless of breed.
