Chinese New Year in Hua Hin

Post by quick-jonny »

Hi to all the members,
Can anyone tell me whether Chinese New Year is celebrated with parades, processions or street parties in Hua Hin? Last year we left too early for New Year, so I would be grateful for any tips that anyone can give me in this direction.

Thanks

A coupla years ago I witnessed a large parade (with the long dragon/snake going from shop to shop) along the 'Market Street' (is it Sa Sarong Rd?)..some really nice costumes & make-up on the ladies.

Don't forget the Chinese temples. You can experience most of the traditions and rituals on the first and second day of the new year.

The car parks will be full. Tesco will close most checkouts. Homepro will have a good display of items that are not in stocked or even available.
The cinema however is true to Chinese tradition is showing a film in English launguage.
Starbucks may have a Chinese tea.
And a few dragons will be on parade for all to see

As every big celebration Market Village and many other shops are trying to make you buy something you don,t need , this happens many times every , but do we learn? Or do we like to be in some way cheated?

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Is there a parade scheduled and if so where and when?

Plenty of fire crackers going off today but I presume tomorrow is the big day

Will keep the dragon happy as it's her year
