New to HH and Cha Am
New to HH and Cha Am
Hi everyone in HH. I am a 64 year old retiree. Over the last two years i have spent allmost a year in Los. and have decided to take the leap. I am in the prossess of separating, and are looking for a place to settle, and from what I read in the forum, Hua Hin or Cha Am seem to suite my needs. I have spent some time in Phuket and Pattaya, wich I find a bit hectic at times. I also spent some months in the countryside in a little village, wich is interesting and fasineting for a while, but I lack the Thai skills to make comuniction meaningfull. I will be coming down from the far north to check it out at the end of january. Hope to find a little support and advice when I get there. My main interrest are reading, walks, training and the odd game of pool and cribbage. I also like live musc and meeting new people. At the present a have a Thai girlfriend, our relationship has been a kind of emotianal rollercoster , wich is becoming a bit weary on me, but I keep on trying for a while more. Beeng a native Norwegian I hope you will be overbearing with my spelling.

Hi petter,
Welcome to the forum. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Hua Hin or Cha-Am. Don't forget to let us know what you think when you visit.
I hope everything works out between you and your girlfriend.

Re: New to HH and Cha Am
Thank you. I never expected to have such a prompt respons, and I feel even better for it. Let me also add that that I have seen that there seem to be a very activ group gollfers arround HH. I neve had an attempt at playing golf my self, but i most say I fascinated by the idia, but starting at 64 might seem overambicous, But with a good instructer, who knows. Any suggestion?
Re: New to HH and Cha Am
Hmmm... I'm not the best to comment on that, but if you ask on the Golf Gossip Forum viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10055 , I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice.

Ellers kan du jo bare melde deg inn i den Norske foreningen her i byen. Der står også golf på programmet.
Re: New to HH and Cha Am
Welcome petter,
I think you'll find this area more to your liking than Phuket or Pattaya and you'll find plenty of pool players to have a round with. I play cribbage and know several others here who do that too. Good luck with the golf. I've been playing off and on since I was 12 and still feel like a beginner most of the time. How good you can get just depends on whether you have the specific athletic ability (mental and physical) required for the game (I obviously don't!) no matter when you take it up.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: New to HH and Cha Am
Hi petter,
If you are Norwegian and you enjoy live music, I recommend you to go to Ban Chang music bar in Cha-am (soi 9 north) on a Sunday night (starting 8 pm). You will love it.

At this hour and with these experiences, and, particularly, fearing what is in
store for Hua Hin, of the two, I would move to Cha-Am instead of Hua Hin.
Taking into account the week-end congestion of C-A, I'd still prefer it to HH.
Then again, to each his own strokes.

Hi Farang,
Interesting comment about HH. Could you give more of your thoughts. Understanding that you qualified it with
"to each his own strokes." Thanks

I would second that, HH is getting a very busy town/city!Farang wrote:At this hour and with these experiences, and, particularly, fearing what is in

Sun&Fun the place is exploding outwards in every direction so maybe not long before it inherits the characteristics of Pattaya/Phuket.

Don' t forget there is at least a 20 klm stretch between the two built up areas with plenty of options worth considering for settling on too!Farang wrote: Reply with quote

Complexity is so simply overrated
