Getting to Hua Hin from Bangkok

Does anybody know if there is a train service or flights to Hua Hin from Bangkok?

There is a train service from Bangkok, but it is probably slower than a taxi.

SGA runs a fairly regular light plane shuttle from the Bangkok domestic terminal which takes a little over 30 mins, this costs a little over 5000 baht for a return trip. If you are travelling on your own and the schedule fits in with your flight times, it is good value. If there are two or more then a taxi is probably better value, this takes 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic, driver and stops, and should cost up to 5000 baht for a return trip.

Lisa, the best way to get there is probably by taxi, cost is normally between 2000-3000 baht from Bangkok airport.

There is a mini bus that goes from the Victoria Monument (a stop on the sky rail) which costs about 200baht per person.

Both trips will take between 2-3 hrs. There is a train that goes from Bangkok to HH, but thnk it takes about 5hrs.

Echo the above.
By the time you get from the international terminal to the domestic and check in again etc etc and then transfer to central HH, it's just not worth it IMO.
Best bet is get a taxi. It's cheaper and your "feet are on the ground".

Thats easier said than done if you're a newbie. Requires a taxi to the bus station and it can be very confusing when you're there.

True, but if you can get from a station in London to anywhere in the UK, I wouldn't imagine that the OP would have a problem from BKK to HH?
To the OP,
If you're thinking about a flight, I assume you have the money, so just jump into a taxi, pay about "whatever", it's a while since I've done it but maybe around 2,000 Baht?
Quicker and cheaper than any connecting flight. AND your feet are on the ground as I said before. A great way to arrive in HH. You can just tell the taxi driver to stop somewhere, have a pit stop, a beer and get on your way again. Three hours isn't long.

This is a service I've never used because people have advised its OK if you're travelling light. If Lisa is on holiday, and has a lot of luggage, she could be struggling. Even then, its still a taxi to the Victory Monument plus 200Baht.

Yes there will be savings, but not that much when compared to the overall cost of the holiday. If she needs to penny pinch that much, its not going to be much of a holiday.

Quite true, the minibus organisers do insist on a surcharge for excess luggage, i.e anything more than a reasonable sized rucksack.
