As mentioned above, the only way to ensure that this does not happen again is to set up a direct debit with your Bank.
It is not difficult to set up, although I believe that both the Bank account, and the meter account, have to be in the same name.
If you do set it up just need to check that it is actually working for the first 1 or 2 months, after that should never be a problem again.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Just out of interest from those that do the direct debit way, but do you get the paper bill delivered to your house before (a day or two) they debit the money from your account so you have a window to hold it up/querie it if it looks suspect as I've have heard of very inconsistant billing regimes around and perhaps inaccurate meters/readers in some places.
Call me old fashioned, but I like to get my paper bill and the cross reference it with the meter as I keep track of the numbers on it and know pretty much exactly what it should be each month. Just have to have your act together and pay it at one of the many times you end up going to 7-11.
7-11 are like that with car payments/insurance and other 'pay at post' bills too. If you arrive late to pay, regarding date shown on the bill, then they won't do it and tell you to go to a bank or the actual place like the electricity HQ in this thread.
Mrs D-M takes care of the bills and pretty much everything else domestic. But I have to say that I don't have enough faith in either the banks or any public utility company to allow them to help themselves to whatever they think they are entitled to from my bank account.
If you are coming from the centre of HH, head to where you do a u-turn to go back to Market Village and exactly at the u-turn, the electricity office is immediately in front of you.
The problem is that they had that U-Turn blocked for a while during the floods and increased traffic in Hua Hin. Is it open again?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.
If it ever happens again, simply connect it back up yourself once you've paid. No real risk involved at all - just push the wires in and then fasten the screws.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
I already paid this month's bill. (Meter was read on 25-Nov.)
I was tempted to push the wires back up and tighten the screw, but I thought that if they found out (monitoring to see if I paid the B100 "penalty) they might take the whole meter next time, which I believe is quite expensive (and takes a while) to replace.
As far as direct debiting to my bank, I see I am not alone in having qualms about that. Also, this is a rented townhouse and the meter is not in my name.
I thought I would dig up this thread to add a neighbor's experience today with PEA. He lives in the next block just up the soi from me. He called late this morning to see if I had electricity, and I did, so he thought maybe it was just his block of townhouses.
HOWEVER. He just moved from one townhouse to another in the same block 01-October. He had automatic billing deducted from his bank account at the old place and it worked like clockwork. He went to the PEA office with the proper bank forms and arranged it for his new place.
Today, with absolutely no notice, they yanked the wire from his electric meter and shut his place off. Luckily I knew how simple it was to reconnect, and did so for him, and he's heading down to the PEA office as I write this.
How difficult would it be to knock on his door and say that, due to non-payment of your bill, we are now going to disconnect you from the grid. Or even, heaven forbid, calling or sending a late notice in the mail?
The rest of the story: Turns out that when he went to the bank to arrange payment, he took a bill from the new home with him -- and forgot to pay it! So, yes, it *was* PEA who pulled the wire.
The way it was resolved: His wire connection at the meter was exposed/uncovered. Mine has a little plastic cover that is attached by a single screw -- you must remove that plastic cover to insert/remove the electric wires. Apparently the PEA chap who disconnected the wire came back to install a plastic cover and my friend saw him. With the help of a neighbor intrepreting, my friend got the PEA chap to agree to bring a bill and he would pay him cash, which he did. The amount paid (plus a tip, I believe) was the original unpaid bill plus the B107 late fee.
Does anyone know if its possible to put some credit on your electricity account, pay in advance, say 6 months up front, to avoid disconnection if you happen to be out of town.
Thanks D-M. Just not sure if the bill is in my name, as my house is in a gated community.
Nereus seems to think that might be an issue in setting up a direct debit.
If you pay the bill directly to the electricity company, then I imagine it's in your name at your address. Pop into the main office and ask. Take a copy of the bill if poss.
