Spell checker

Post by SHADOW »

This is not a dig. Just some useful infomation. The Google tool bar has a spell checker built in for web pages, seconds to download and very easy to use. We all make mistakes I can't type for shit and some times go a bit scaleletrix. Have been trying to read a couple of posts from the colonies and haven't got a clue what they are saying. :thumb:

Perhaps someome should PM Honolulu Jimmy with the details, looking at most of his posts, it may help us all to understand them a bit better.

Good suggestion Shadow. Maybe in the case of some we need an automatic pop up stating 'Your post has not been submitted because you are too STONED', although the last word can be altered to fit different posters... :thumb:
P.S. Some suggestions - DRUNK, STUPID, BIGOTED. Any more?

Much as I agree with chelsea about HJ's posts, I think it would be a bad idea to have a spellchecker available. IMHO i feel it would de-personalise the posts. That we all make mistakes, and are prepared to do so publicly on the board is no bad thing. Given that this is a written medium, a spellcheck would serve only to homogenise the posters somewhat, and lose some of their character.

Besides which, some of them are a hoot! (HJ comes to mind...)

apparently i need spell checker. (see young crew section)Is it such a big issue? Everyone does typos and all have various levels of english education no doubt.
i agree with above posters and i often find some posts quite amusing to read because of the way there author has structured them.

You can always open up your email client and check any word you're not sure of. Other then that, it is fun to see when normally meticulous spellers are in their cups...LOL. :P  Pete

I totally agree. I often like to guess the nationality of the poster, before looking to the left hand window to see where they come from.

Keep on making mistakes guys - be assured, your attempts at writing English are a lot better than any effort I could make writing your language. You guys are making a pretty good job of writing English, and although sometimes amusing, I don't really think anybody is complaining.

Some use of the "shift" key and the occasional capital letter wouldn't go amiss.
Then again, after just seeing Australia beaten by Brazil, I can understand if you're a bit down.
