whilst diggng about for Seemann by Rammstein (posted above) I came across this lot....Apocalyptica. A trio of classically trained Finnsh cellists who do rock music using electric cellos and effect pedals....and they Rock!!!

Here is their version of Seemann with the mother of Goth - Nina Hagen. She doesnt look that bad for a granny....and man can she still sing. Shes like a goth version of a German cabaret singer like Marlene Dietrich....

here is them doing a German language version of Bowie's Heroes with Till Lindermann from Rammstien. I thnk ts a crackng cover.

their albums are easy to find online....well worth a listen

Gotye continues to put out some good vids for his songs. Sounds like Sting in this one.

Noel Gallaghers debut album High Flying Birds

A better album than Liam Gallaghers Beady Eye release IMO

Not so much music, but poetry set to a background soundtrack.....

Ive always been a fan of fellow "Manc" northern monkey and punk poet wordsmith JOHN COOPER CLARKE, and thanks to my outrage on the CT thread came across some of his stuff on on the tube. Hm quasi monotonal machine gun delivery and use of the common invective just cracks me up as well as makes me ponder.

Beasley Street...about the street in your hometown, and most have em, where dreams go to die....

Kung Fu International about the 80s martial arts craze

I Dont Wanna Be Nice...we all have days like this

now one of my favorite poems - "The City in the Sea" by Edgar Allan Poe - Read by Basil Rathbone .... Cthulhu Ftaghan!!!!!

and finally, the poem my Grandad taught me to love and try to live by....Kipling's IF read by Harvey Kietel...whch is how my grandad used to read it to me

I always liked Noel and waaay back n the day used to say he needed to get rid of his drug addled monkey brother and go solo.....Little By Little and other songs he solo'd on were the best.

Im glad hes given the snorkel coated w*nker Liam the elbow.

Hadn't noticed that reference to my musical preferences after a night on the tiles, SM, but just to show that my tastes are not slipping, I've been lent some Bert Jansch ( 6 CDs, some doubles) and another John Renbourne.
Havn't has much chance to listen to them yet but bring on the beer this weekend and I'll give them an outing.
I must learn how to rip these to my computer.

I found a few examples of why I like Noels work - even ones where he replaces the whiny nasal prat of a brother on lyrics and surprise surprise the songs sound better....good I say as these are my fave "Oasis" tracks

Little By Little

Casts No Shadow

Dont Look Back In Anger

heres another son of Manc track I like.....Ian Brown and UNKLE - Be There

Jimi Hendrix named greatest-ever guitarist
November 24, 2011 1:01 am

Los Angeles - Rock magazine Rolling Stone on Wednesday named Jimi Hendrix the greatest guitarist of all time.

The legendary American axe-player topped four Britons who also came of age during rock’s formative years in the 1960s: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards and Jeff Beck.

The list was compiled by a panel of dozens of top guitarists selected by the magazine. Hendrix, who died from a drug overdose in 1970, eased effortless grace in his playing, said guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine.

"There’s not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he’s working hard at it," Morello wrote. "It feels like it’s all flowing through him."//DPA

Just came across an old album I bought in Spain in the 70's.

Not heard from Albert Hammond for a long while:

The Album - Great songs.
