Why do you think Honda refuses to make a pickup?

Looks like you have your answer :P :P

Is it snobbery that Toyota refuse to make motorcycles?

Actually, back in the early '90's, some taxi drivers under the private taxi ownership scheme (reg nos. 5ท-xxxx to 7ท-xxxx) actually bought a couple of Honda Civics and had them outfitted as taxis. They ran around for a few months before a horrified Honda dealership quickly bought them back so other Honda drivers would not suffer the indignation of seeing a similar model to that they were driving in taxi livery...

Thanks to all for the information. Unfortunately no Ford owners have commented but at least the other manufacturers seem to have set a precedent in terms of insurance. Whether that's representative of Ford, I'm not sure.

I talked briefly with a salesman in Ford's showroom in Hua Hin recently and although he was very helpful on the specification, he didn't offer a lot of information on the commercial aspect. In fact after I left, I found that the brochure didn't have a price list inside and no business card, so therefore without making a journey back down there, I'm not really furnished with very much info.

In my experience of buying vehicles in Thailand, official dealerships often seem to be locked into the manufacturers recommended price which is why they try to compete on such things as free insurance and extras.
