Even Kayne doesn't like hip hop :lach:
West has stated on several occasions that outside of work, he favors listening to rock music over hip-hop. He cites Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Killers as some of his favorite musical groups. Additionally, on Graduation, West drew inspiration from arena rock bands such as U2, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin for melody and chord progression. Both a fan and supporter of indie culture, West uses his official website to promote obscure indie rock bands, posting up music videos and mp3s on a daily basis.

As for music in general, just listen to any modern day radio station & you will hear a never ending stream of cover versions & adaptations of older songs.
Kind of tells it's own story

Try a different radio station.

Oh, and Kanye West is a bit of a dick but his last album was a work of art.

At what age is it that you only listen to music from your generation?

My Oasis CD would be burnt out but I binned that 10 years ago!

I can listen to Bob Dylan or Dizzee Rascal, a tune is a tune!
Oh dear, how disappointing :( Now I thought BB had a fairly decent outlook on music.. Only sad people ''Bin'' music. Oasis... a pair of (talented) pr*cks. I enjoyed a couple of their songs and will listen to them as long as I enjoy them. To say you ''bin'' music (or am I missing some young, hip saying) is a little sad IMHO.

I love, enjoy, dislike (but can never hate) music over a huge range and a great many years....... I am only 41 so I don't believe ''An Old Fart'' just yet. I do however also enjoy classical, so by BB's opinion must be a couple of centuries out of date.....

I don't need to keep up with fashionable music.... I have my own taste and don't really need to rely on others to tell me what I like. Thankfully due to modern technology, I don't have masses of CD's or records (Vynil to Oasis fans), but am able to store masses of MP3 from the likes of ABBA (yes  ) to Judas Priest to AC/DC to Bocellini to........ well, how about the stunning Vanessa-Mae who puts a modern turn to Beethoven?

Seriously..... enjoy music for what it is. TheCr@p you are listening to (at your own admission) is gone after 10 years........

The only times i come into contact with others is when i'm not in my domain :|

I suppose that depends on what you define as art

So let's get a breakdown on what you guys listen to most.

Sure it's down to age, mood and personal taste

I've just been blown away yet again by Wakeman(8 keyboards) and son (6 keyboards) on tour in South America, and while I was sailing over HH on cloud 9 (no booze or :rasta: ) I thought it might be interesting to test the water and find out what fellow posters play to relieve the stressful lives we have :D

My collection is Wakeman Marillion. Floyd, Clapton.Guns and R, Frampton, Led Z, Deep P, Queen, ZZ Top.

Bare in mind I'm 66 and also enjoy some good Digweed stuff but as said before it's mood dependent

OK time to post and then back to Wakeman

Noels sound, very witty intelligent fella, hardly a prick.

I didn't mean bin literally, but I was a huge Oasis fan as a kid, seen them live about 10 times but not 1 album is on my 8gb memory card. Got everything by The White Stripes, the Arctics, Eminem, Snow Patrol, but no Oasis.

And classical music is guff.

[quote="richard"]So let's get a breakdown on what you guys listen to most.

You can class me as an old fart age wise but I am not one who has "no more new music after 1972 to enter" tattooed into my brain. It really puzzles me how many people seem stuck in a musical time warp and listen to that same old stuff day in day out.
What is weirder to explain is why they relish the chance to try out new things like different food, travel, new technology and some even seek out life partners half their age or less. But will they ever listen to anything new , oh no poor sods.

If you want to hear some new stuff mingled with a bit of old try out a non commercial station which is run by another couple of old farts

Thought I'd have a retro blast and have been checking-out the 'The Psychedelic Furs' again, really good stuff, takes me back to my scoundrel youth.

Like them a lot.

This one was a major hit for them....amongst others.

DTM, if you haven't already spotted it, the below is on True Visions EXP2 at 2000 hours each Tuesday, and probably repeated other days/times as well. Pete

What I listen to depends on the mood Im in, or want to put myself in. Im a wannabe rockstar so rock and metal has always been a constant since my post punk n goth teens, and with the love of rock comes a deep love and respect for the blues. From school I got the same for classical music, from my mum and dad a love of old rock n roll and from my aunts and uncles a love of crooner stuff like Nat and Frank and Tony Christie. I picked up from girlfirnds and their mums and dads loves of odd stuff like trad jazz, Tracy Chapman, Sade, Bill Haley, The Ink Spots, etc etc.

Ive got over 6000 mp3s now...enough for a lifetime.

Like I said, what I listen to is what mood Im in or want to be in..... I just love music

talking of which...lets dance
