The did last year but at a higher price, like 1500 instead of the 800 most of the rest of the courses charge during that time.

3 Ladies: Generally when we have more than 4 golfers we split up into two groups. Why not bring the girls along and let them tee off first as a group? We have no problem with lady golfers as long as they are not too sensitive about some of the language resulting from bad swings.

We always golf mornings cause we have other bad habits that are generally reserved for evenings or the dead of night.

August and September are the time to visit Hua Hin for cheap golf. As part of the golf festival most of the big courses discount their green fees to 800Bt

Well I'm sure glad I saw this post and I'll definitely be joining soon. I was on the verge of getting started with golf, but then just decided to forget about it for a number of reasons, all of which don't seem to be relevant with you bushhackers.....


The average course simply costs too much, and given that I can't yet play the game properly, I would just be throwing my money away. What me off the most though, is the fact that you always have to use a caddy, and focus seems to be on competition rather than on fun. All I want to do is go and play for the fun of it - if I use a 7 iron when I should be using an8 iron, so what? Don't need or want a caddy, and neither do I need one of the buggy car things.

Reading the posts in this thread, I think I've just discovered that there are others who also just want to have fun, rather than doing battle with a score card. You'll definitely be hearing from me shortly...

played 9 holes on the Tannerat course yesterday, cost about 520 baht i think and was well good enough for a 21 HC like me. I have paid a lot more to play courses in Malaysia and Batam that were not as good as this.

^ Really, is it in better shape now? The last time we played it was about four months ago and it was just awful... about in the same condition as the free course at Dolphin Bay, fairways were completely dead grass or cement hard dirt and greens were not much better. After playing it for about three weeks in a row, my group gave it up and moved north to Milford Eagle which is not much more and much better condition.

its not the best course in the world but like i say, for a 21 HC and my friend who has just started golf i thought it was very good. we played the back 9 and greens were fine, fairways a bit iffy but still ok and for the 500 and odd baht including caddy was not bad.
Played milford the other day ( with rented clubs, like playing with a selection of fishing rods, or could be cos i was s**te) but did not think it was a whole lot better than Tannerat.

^ Ok, good to know, maybe the rains have helped Dhannerat. The last time I played there was early this year and every shot was from dead grass or bare cement-like dirt. At that time they were only watering the landing areas of each fairway where a low handicapper would hit every shot and everything else was barren and dead. Needless to say, I was rarely in the watered area.

During the same period, I played Milford several times and their fairways on the front nine were well watered and very good for the price, however the back nine was much like Dhannerat, mostly dead grass. Not sure why they would water the front and not the back but as the back is at much higher elevations maybe they thought it got more natural moisture. We played that course a lot last year and early this year and after a couple of times playing the whole thing we just started playing the front nine twice (skipping the back) because of the difference in condition.
