This is another business just waiting to take off here, just like in Japan and other Asian countries when they discovered dogs as real pets, and not just strays you feed in the street.

More middle class equals more pets. It also means more time for leisure travel and a need for pet care. You can't always ask a neighbor to pet sit, especially if the holiday is longer than a day or two. More grooming shops and quality pet supply shops will be needed also.

Knowing this place I wouldn't be surprised to see a uni-species beauty shop open up. Get your hair done while fifi is getting her's done in the next chair. Pete

When we go away, we use the services provided by the Vets office on the main road just before that "old Thailand" place.
In fact last week the wife went to Bkk for a few days and put the dog in, the day after someone came in asking for our dog by name and advised they were taking it home, but they would not release it unless my wife spoke to them, so they left.
They called my wife to check and advise what happened...dog kidnappers in HH???

Yes, dog-nappers everywhere here IMO. If it's purebred they want them for breeding and money making. If yours have been fixed, good idea to let that fact circulate by word of mouth around your area. Here's another thread, the outcome unknown, but I fear never found. :( Pete

Yes Pete, on two occasions we've had Thai men on motorcycles stop at our gate and ask if we're interested in letting our Rottweiler breed. She's been fixed and we made sure they believed us before they left.......just in case.

Not sure if they would be brave enough to steel a Rottweiler or not, but I suspect they have a means to do it if they really want to. Anyway, both our dogs were fixed as soon as they were old enough for the operation.

As far as a kennel is concerned......we used to use a local Thai man who Dawn recommended but I no longer have his contact details.
