Let us know what its like and the release group/file name if it is good

the TS ones Ive seen are all over colourised and vaseline vision....and iffy sound. Not much better than CAMs basically. Rough with a capital R. Dont forget tho mate Im a picky swine.

A good one could well be a DVD SCR from a journalist preview disk.

It was a crappy Cam SM, I've deleted it.

Some muppets on PB were giving it 8s and 9s, I'll wait.

It might even be on my flight on Saturday. :naughty:

good copies only come from 2 sources - journalist prerelease preview disks and R5/regional early DVD release rips. the former is getting much rarer now so R5 is becoming a much more relaible indicator of when DVDRIP quality releases will be about....IMDB usually list the DVD release schedules, or you can do a search for a site that lists them.

NB - The copies of what purports to be a R5 release of HANGOVER 2 are just the same crappy CAM copy ... thats why I never use torrents. No file referenced preview = no downloadee

stick to veehd.com, stagevu.com, or sites like oneddl.com and oneclickmoviez.com - they verify the file quality before they allow them to be posted.

dee dee dee ditty dit dit.... The SandoTronic 6000 Early Warning System is going off......

Talking of R5 copies there are several lovely crispy clean R5 versions of goth steampunk sci fi horror fest PRIEST doing the rounds now - look for copies marked R5 LINE (Line refers to the audio source...not perfect but good). Oneclickmoviez.com has several versions but these are all big 1.4gig files. Look around and there are versions by SCORP and others that are around 700mb

lovely clean vid and audio

review to follow

Someone was earlier (think it was Barry) asking about good copies of HANNAH...well again a lovely clean hi quality DVDRIP R5 copy is out and about on veehd.com and other places such as oneclickmoviez.com.

Also doing the rounds is a moderate quality PPVRIP of the Simon Pegg alien encounter comedy PAUL...Id wait a week or so more till the R5 rip comes out tho.

Finally TRUE GRIT is now out and about in single CD 700mb size versions that are good quality so worth keeping an eye out for non 1280p HiDef fans like me with older video cards unable to cope with HiDef

all of the above are available at veehd.com for super rapid download

Seriously....someone needs to knock a few heads together in Hollywood, cos I for one am sick of kickass action films being very short. Otherwise PRIEST is an excellent Bladerunnerish gothic steampunk meets sci fi western vampire killer romp. But at 1hr 20mins you just have time to sink your teeth into its fully realised grungy world and then its over.....of course like all these shorts leaving it open ended as to potential for a sequel. They screwed JONAH HEX up by cutting it way too short, and now they just about did the same here.

Acting is never the main point but Paul Bettany smoulders his way through, and the others fill in with aplomb. The sets and special effects are all top notch, and the vamps are a wierd sort of eyeless CONSTANTINE demon lookalike breed with semi-human familiar helpers. It has a very comic book feel to it, but is works well and the world it is set in is fascinating...which is why it could well have stood at least another 20 mins of scene setting backstory being kept in there.

It tells the tale of a quasi wild sci fi west alternative world where humans and vampires have waged an eons long war that has turned their planet into a dustbowl and where most humans live in overpopulated hive cities safe from the biters who roam outside. The cities are run by the clergy, and the militant vampire stomping arm, called Priests, are now relegated to second class low level workers and surpressed so they dont scare the populace. When one of their number hears that his relatives have been attacked by vamps, he sets out on a quest to sort the vamps out against the orders of the clergy. They send a team of his colleagues to track him down, and so begins a three way chase....vampires, priest and his trackers all chasing each other.

Top class steampunk sci fi goth fun, and great entertainment, but way too damn short. I expect a directors or unrated longer cut will be about (hopefully), and could even say Id love a sequel.

well worth catching, and its a three flying shuriken crosses keeper in my book

Look for excellent DvDRIP quality R5 LINE copies that are all over the net, including my fave site veehd.com.

Thanks for the reviews Sandman - will keep an eye out for PRIEST. Big fan of the genre.

I'll be waiting a little while though, so as I can get BlueRay quality - I like my 1280 with surround sound :thumb:

Unlike you, who as our resident reviewer of note :) needs to keep up with the latest release I'm happy to 'time-shift' my viewing experience by a month or two.

The funniest (if that's the right word) pre-release movie I saw recently was THE MECHANIC (2011) in which nearly every indoor scene you get to see the microphones hovering around the actor's head.

Thanks a lot sm67 - yes it was me and yesterday I was able to download a good version.
Will watch it in the next few days.

I registered with veehd.com as a user easily enough, but had problems registering with oneclickmoviez - there's the login there for existing users but I can't find where to register as a new user - what am I doing wrong? :?

If a director / star / franchise has a solid base the studio will OK longer action films. Otherwise, everybody involved wants maximum gross on opening weekend in case the audience doesn't like it and the take falls off the cliff for the 2nd weekend. Shorter films allow the theater owners to fit in an extra show without resorting to weird show times.

Fair comment, but 1 hr 20 seems to be extracting the urine somewhat!! :guns: :cuss:

Barry

with oneclickmoviez.com you dont actually need to register to get the download links so I dont bother...they are just listed under the movie. registering just means you dont get the intermittent wait screen when you click on a file hoster link.

dont bother mate.

Kalbow....Ill keep an eye on veehd.com and let you know when a BluRay 1280p of PRIEST comes out. It will look lovely in HiDef. SUCKER PUNCH should be out in good quality soon...same same steampunk meets scifi look.

PH hits the nail on the head tho. Agree I can see why short 1hr20m would favor the cinema owners, but when you consider that series such as THE BORGIAS, CAMELOT, SPARTACUS etc now do the pilot episodes at nearly that length, methinks its time to get back to the 2hr film format. PRIEST could easily have left in at least another 20 mins of scene setting background, and JONAH HEX was so full of obvious cut it short at all costs holes it was laughable. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is a completely different and much better film in its "epic" directors cut version....it is now recognised as the benchmark for directors cut edits and Fatty Ebert uses it as a stick to beat Hollywood editor idiots with.

short films suck ass!!!!

Yes. Unless they're perfect. Like this 27m 51s of two dim bulbs moving a piano. A very long flight of stairs on a hillside between two streets is involved.

Won the first Academy Award for a short film. Some say the category was created because of it.

Homer,

Im a major L&H fan...The Music Box and Sons of the Desert are two of the funniest films ever made IMHO.

I also love old Harold Lloyd slapstick silents. I think HL had the edge on Chaplin in many reguards. When I was in my early teens BBC2 used to run a half hour show at 6pm of his classic stuff, and me and my dad would watch it religiously, laughiing our socks off.

Although black and white is the original I actually prefer the modern computer colourised versions that are now available. L&H is easy enough to find - veehd.com and stagevu.com have loads of them in original black & white and colourised versions.

I also have a big soft spot for the Marx Brothers and The Three Stooges.....Curly just cracks me up every time.
