Randy is correct to an extent, although the music may not be to everyone's taste, and it does get very hot in there sometimes. Other bars you may consider with American pool tables that have a good 'feel' about them are Johnnie Walkers, Sugar Cane (but the table is a little uneven), Octopus's, Nid's Place, Mondo Bar and Dicks Office. The newly opened Butterfly Rock, Nervana and Lazy Daze also have these types of table but the smaller version but are good places to go too. If you prefer the English style tables, more akin to snooker, then your best bets are Jungle Juice, Billy's Bar, London Bar, P & P (wins hands down on the 'skirt' issue), U-Turn (a close second!), and also Limelight and Sabai Bar but they tend to be quiet and lacking in female company but still enjoyable when they are busy.
All of these come with some important notes though - the standard of the tables and equipment in these places has generally been quite good over time, but all tables and cues deteriorate with use, particularly ones that are exposed to the elements. All of the bars are prone to be quiet at some point so when you go is important in terms of having other people to play with and chat, as well as the likelihood of female company. For what it's worth I play more in Johnnie Walkers than anywhere else because I like the overall atmosphere there, it fits my preferences and I am now the captain of one of the pool teams. I have played pool pretty much everywhere in town and for a short while ran the pool league (now run by Chris in the Sugar Cane Bar if you are interested). Apologies to any bars not mentioned that may have upgraded their equipment since I was last there but I hope that is of some help. At the end of the day the best bet is to go round town and try them out and find one that suits you. I wouldn't recommend going on a Monday or Wednesday night however as these are normally competition nights in the League, although you would get to meet other pool players. Friday night is normally a good night to play though.

I played a fair bit of pool at nids place in jan when i was last inn HH. I have heard that it now goes under the rouse of the captains inn. Has it still got a pool table? Octopussy and coconuts are the places to go if you need some shot motivation from a skirt. If i remember rightly octopussy has 3 or 4 tables and plenty of partners to give you a game.

Thanks guys. I prefer a 4x8 table. I grew up on 4 1/2 x 9 tables but my eyes are not as good as when I was younger. I do bring my own cue stick to BKK but have never bothered to take it with me to HH. Perhaps that would be a good idea.
Look forward to meeting some of you on my next visit.Love the game.

Bushman, if you here on any given Thursday, we have a 9-ball competition at Bamboo Grove. We usually start around 18.00 with a couple of killers game to wait for the late comers and then one or two 9-ball competitions depending on how many people join it (so far it's been between 4-16.) The table is American 8x4 table.

Many apologies to Bamboo Grove for not including them in my initial list - they absolutely deserve to be in there for standard of equipment, atmosphere and competition although I think they would be the first to acknowledge that it might not meet your added criterion of 'skirt'!
And a question for BG - are you now open every day/evening?

Sorry, this thread has somehow eluded me since my last post in here.
wonderlust: we are open every day, exept Sundays. During the football WW certainly in the evening as well. Since it's still family run, we may opt for a later opening hours.
bushman: never mind about the level of your pool, we finished at the bottom of the div. 3
