Over 1000 members but only the chosen few post...

So is this forum community only for people in hua hin so that others can read it or is for visitors who want to share experiances and have a chat.

Its for everyone however the main focus tends to be Hua Hin whether you live here, are visiting, or have never even been but want to find out more.

I do agree that we have quite an opinionated lot on here, but they generally mean well.

You have to be honest Olmate - you have laid yourself wide open to wind-ups, especially with regard to the contradictory advice you dished out on healthy eating, your admiration for the skill of Thai drivers (:shock: !) and brazen pride in the Wannabees - sorry, Wallabies. All subjects likely to get some sort of response!

I deliberately re-wrote my expose on your contradictory nutritional advice before posting to make it less personal and more light hearted (casting you in the third person as 'Brother Olmate') but obviously you are more sensitive than I had thought.

Keep posting and join in with the banter. If you get found out on a topic then take it on the chin and learn from it.

By the way, I don't live in Thailand either so the club is not exclusive.

Well all i can say is, i get only good information

This is the best forum i ever joined. The information is great and only concerning itself with Hua Hin can only be good if that is what you are looking for.

I uniqueness makes in an great original idea, which at some point over 1000 people must have thought the same

If you express an opinion on this forum, you're likely to get several opinions back and many of them will be contradictory and maybe argumentative.

If you ask a straightforward question, it will be answered truthfully and helpfully or it will already have been addressed and you will be directed to the previous thread.

If you haven't already read some historical threads, then do so and you will get a feel for the forum.

You often express opinions and that's no bad thing, so don't be so sensitive to some of the replies.

Remember, that you too can reply to other postings and contradict their opinions if you choose to.

It's called banter and sometimes it's nice to wind other people up.

Not only is it a great website, HHAD actually had a party to celebrate three years in existence. I was one of many who made the effort...

Yes i may be an aussie and have a wallaby picture, but i would appreciate it if comments about where i am from may be restrained im pretty sure i have not commented or used any form of name calling for the main majority of a particular nationality on this forum. After all it is a forum not a sledging session. We are not at the cricket.

I agree that this is a great site.
I have had experience of a number of sites and this is one of the best. Most tend to degenerate into a sort of inner clique where newbies are not made to feel welcome or are just ignored
That tends to become self defeating of course as the boards dry up and die usually.

One suggestion, would it be useful to have a section dedicated to "part-time" residents? I am thinking that there must be a fairly large number of people who are only in Hua Hin for part of the year - i.e. they are somewhere between tourists and residents. This group probably have issues that only apply to them?

The reason for saying this is that I hope to be in this position myself soon so would be interested to see what others say

I think you might have to blame your fellow countrymen for any banter or sledging that comes your way, as (certainly for the English) most Aussies will dish it out mercilessly when given a chance, and possibly some unknowingly when they use terms like 'Pommy'; of course that is often preceded by 'Whinging' but we English take it on the chin most of the time. The thing I have always liked about Australians is that they won't hesitate to rip into anyone who is becoming a bit too big for their boots, or a bragger - I believe the Aussie slang for this is something like 'cutting down the tall poppies'? I have to add that there is nothing at all wrong in being proud of one's country and/or it's acheivements, and Australia certainly has a lot for such a small population, but if you make a statement about that (e.g. your avatar) then to a certain extent it's fair game, here on these boards or elsewhere. Now, who's for an ice cold stubby?

Nearly 50% of the board members have yet to make a post
Less than 25% have only made 5 posts!

How do you do that, I can't find the member list button.

We regulars can post forever but what would look great is if some fresh blood to actually get good discussions goings.
