Thank you. One more (probably stupid, as you're still alive, and posting on this forum :D ) question if you don't mind. Do the Thai generic drugs work just as well, or have you suffered any problems with them?

To quote Wiki... which says it all..
A generic drug (generic drugs, short: generics) is a drug which is produced and distributed without patent protection. The generic drug may still have a patent on the formulation but not on the active ingredient.

A generic must contain the same active ingredients as the original formulation.

So, yes. Still alive.

Yes, I found out about Bestatin when I first came to Hua Hin and tried to get Zocor from a pharmacy. The pharmacist said he didn't have Zocor but Bestatin was the same thing. I bought it (very cheap) and then went home and looked it up on the internet and found that it is indeed the same drug as Zocor, sans the patent. I've been taking it for years now and it seems to work as my cholesterol reading is within normal range.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

1. Search (google) the trademark name of the drug, e.g. Tagamet
2. Search results will usually have the US generic name and/or chemical name, if not then start checking the links. I've yet to find a drug using the trademark name in wikipedia that didn't also have the chemical or generic name(s). Generic name for tagamet is Cimetidine
3. Search on generic or chemical name and thailand. First page of results showed the thai generic name for Cimetidine is Cigamet.
