There was a lot of rain in Hua Hin on Tuesday night. (in Soi 6) Overcast this morning in Bangkok, but no rain. There is a huge high pressure area over China and a lot of low pressure cells in our area and further South. That is producing a North Easterly airflow from the colder regions of China.
It seems that the the unusual conditions may be the tail end of La Nina, (the opposite of El Nino), which is predicted to finish this year.
A bit like predicting earthquakes I think.

I'll sleep when I'm dead. Nightly I roam in search of the blood of a virgin. So far I haven't found any.   Pete

EDIT: Seriously, I read with my daughter every night and we both usually nod off at about 2100. I only need 6 so I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed at 0300.

I'm loving it... out on the balcony in shorts and T-shirt soaking up the cold!!!! Wish I could store it up for hot days!

I'm thinking back long and hard but can't come up with a more glorious day weather-wise that I've ever experienced in Thailand. It's still only 24c in Rayong (and 21c in HH per the reports) as of 1600 hours, and the sun has just come out here and it actually feels nice and toasty after a chilly day. I hope we get a repeat tomorrow. :D :D :D Pete

Well, it is just plain miserable in Bangkok. Overcast and gloomy and cold, and been raining earlier. Had to go out this morning and there are people getting around rugged up with hooded coats on. The wind has eased off a bit from this morning, but it is still cold. I cannot ever remember it like this, even around December when there is a similar weather pattern. :?

Having lived here for so long and not carrying much body fat I am freezing, T-shirt, thick polo shirt, longs and a lumberjack woolly shirt and still cold. Now where' s the central heating control box?

Got friends here from the UK who have been many times before and they are feeling miserable. Spent a week in Krabi where the weather was unusual and the hotel was crap (Sheraton) Now they are cooped up in the Sofitel. Been out every night with them and the restaurants are thinly populated too. They are beginning to regret their booking :(

Hmm. Thai weather service prediction for today is 31°, and currently showing 20.7°. http://www.tmd.go.th/en/province.php?id=71 That is a long way to be wrong by.

I've known of countries that massage figures to encourage tourism

The last, and really only time, I remember weather like this in HH during March was 10 years ago when my parents came across.
7 of the 10 days spent in HH were total wash outs, so much so that the night market was closed every day. Even that was flooded so it gives an indication of how the town was further towards the sea - wading time.
That's a sort of precedent, weather-wise, for me at this time of year but I certainly don't remember it being so cold.

Yeh, this weather is so unreal, it's nearly the same as in Holland.
I love to sit in the balcony in the evening, but it's much to cold now :cuss:

I'm quite enjoying it (like HHF), but feel sorry for tourists who have come here for endless sunshine and temperatures 30 degrees plus (which is normal for this time of year).

The digital thermometer in our kitchen is currently showing 18.7! Think an extra duvet on the bed will be needed tonight...

Never known it this cold this time of year in 13 years living here.
