Had the 'tapes' with me when I was working in Moscow throughout 1990 - they kept me 'sane'
Now have them on DVD
As usual with a DVD package there are interviews of most of the actors and Cleese (Who wrote all of the episodes with Connie Boothe) said quite simply that he thought that the 12 episodes were perfect enough and could not honestly better or make more - despite being offered a heap of cash to do so.........
My favorite British TV series of all time... had the entire series (12 episodes) on tape and watched it over and over for years laughing every time. Too bad they didn't make more. I always suspected the reason was that they ran out of ways to rearrange the letters on the hotel sign at the beginning of the episodes.
For some reason "Flowery Tw*ts" has always stuck in the mind!! Can't remember any others I suppose that says something
hey guys and girls , they are finnaly showing movies with english soundtrack down at the market village so i would suggest everyone who has been complaing about this for along time ( me included ) gets there backsides down there and watch some of the films :-) curently showin is the green hornet and the rite , the more people go the more likely they are to keep showing ....
I agree with the above post, those of us that have been wanting movies in english can go and watch 2 movies now, if they see they get money from this we can expect to see more.... tell your friends, mention they are playing in english and see if we can keep it this way for a while.... would be nice
only 8 bodies in the 140 b seats other night when i went to sampel the cinema delights after a long absence of going not a very exp night may be 500 b all in . big pop corn ex big drink lost off room in the cinema sound sys pretty loud too!!!!! ( at the green hornet)
And we whinge, complain and shout blue murder at the fact the place doesn't accomodate us 'important' farangs that would 'swarm' the place should there be soundtrack movies!
That evening the electricity costs probably outweighed the income - plus losing an hours worth of time to a crowd more likely to turn up.
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
Did my duty today and saw a film I wouldn't have otherwise considered. About 40 people at the 3:40 show for 'I am Number 4'. Saw one other Farang, but didn't think to start looking until just before the lights went down.
And the volume was TOO FREAKING LOUD. That's true for all Michael Bay films, so don't know if it was the film or the theater. I'll bring some tissues for ear plugs next time.
Went to see Green Hornet at the 13.40 slot. We were in the VIP seats at 250 baht, very comfortable roomy seats, with recline and foot rest. They even supplied a blanket ! Agree with the last poster though, it was very loud !!
But, very good value, will go back.
My wife phoned Market Village Cinema and inquired what English sound track movies were showing... She was given the name of 4 movies and their starting time... So we go on down and buy ticket for World Invasion but just before we went in, my wife went back to check that it a English sound track. NO. But my wife said I spoke to you about an hour ago and you said several with English. Staff said .. I meant that they were not a Thai movie but from another country.
The cinema has changed their lineup 3 or 4 times now without any English soundtrack films. Their test is over, I'm afraid, because they didn't sell enough tickets.
