Hey poosmate you know you have a sort of vision of people when you don't actually know them? I sort of saw you as an accountant or some sort of office bod never would could I see you as a restaurateur. What was the name of yer restaurant in the UK and where? What type of food did you do?

Thai Orchid Preston Lancs. Still the only Thai restaurant in the city.

Just my contribution about the location, I think it's great so long as the rent isn't too high, there aren't that many places to go in Hua Hin and there are already plenty of good, well priced restaurants there. Anyone who likes to sit, eat, drink and watch the the world go by will walk the 200 meters or so required every couple of weeks, I like the weekends when the Bkk mob come down.
Good luck to the owners, will be paying a visit soon.

Don't worry about shutting today. HH is grid locked. You deserve a rest and don't worry, you will soon have a big following. Need to do pensioners portions though for the likes of me. Doggy bag will do though

I am drooling too! I'll have to give it a try when I come in January. Mexican food is my favourite!Homer wrote:Tried the chicken burrito. As soon as it was set down in front of me I saw fresh cilantro, veggies and tortilla, cheese that wasn't cheddar and it was almost as long as my forearm. All pluses to my Southern California barrio-bred Mexican food preferences. Digging in I found a complex and slow burning mix of flavors, enough beans for flavor and texture but not enough to dominate and that the chicken had a distinct flavor that stood out when there wasn't much else on the fork and blended well when there was. It filled me up.
La vez proxima, voy a comer taquitos y cerveza. Which, in my basic Spanish translates (I hope) into 'Next time, I go to eat taquitos and beer.'

I visited Margaritas yesterday with a friend. We tried crispy flautas, a plateful of tacitos and an impressive-sized chicken burrito. I like the friendly and attentive service and the food was really superb; fresh, tasty and with exquisite spice. (one gets to define the spiciness according to one's choice) The accompanying salsa was so good next time I'll buy some of it for home use.
With one frozen margarita and a large Leo the price was well under 600 bath. Excellent value for the really good comida. Another great Hua Hin food experience.

Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
Maybe this will be a good place for xmas evening dining ?
Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
Again,
I have talked to several residents who are interested in trying your place, but we all refuse to fight to find a parking space at night. Please let me know when you are open for lunch and I will be there.Albertodelgado, please post here or pm me if you get up and fully running at lunch time as that would be a more likely time for us to visit.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
Parking is not so bad early evening on Sa Song road, it took me 10 mins to walk from sofitel to the restaurant, is that really a long way! Off topic but on the topic of walking - its amazing how everyone thinks that walking more than 500 metres is a long way here - one of my staff took the motorbike yesterday to go from our office to post office - literally 100 metres away(i went crazy!), i really couldnt believe what i was seeing, back in UK me and my friends would think nothing of walking 2 miles into the town or a little further to go to the golf course, what happens to everyone when they get here!

Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
JW, back in California I thought nothing of walking (or jogging) 5 miles and used to ride a bicycle 45 miles over the Santa Cruz mountains to the beach, but it wasn't 1000 f**ing degrees in the shade with 150% humidity (I know SJ, you've told me a million times not to exaggerate!
). Here, if I walk more than 10 feet, I need to go back home and take a shower so yes I will not go anywhere if I can't park within a couple of hundred meters! I really hate it when there is sweat dripping off the end of my nose into my plate of food.

Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
Actually if you park near the train track it's about a 1 minute walk...
Re: A new Mexican Restaurant
HHF, I guess walking is a lot sweatier here, nightmarket can get pretty hot! If you can get parked at the top, then its really easy - another cool place at the top of nightmarket is Retro bar - Thai food is great and not expensive!
Staff in office has the choice of Japanese/Italian or Mexican for our Xmas party - looks like Burritos all round!
