Where to have an eye test ?

Post by MwD »

Can anybody recommend somewhere to have a proper eye test ?

I have been through older posts which recommended Dr Pairats eye clinic, but the posts were quite old.

Is this clinic still here, and if so, where is it ?

Thanks.

Hi,
Yes he is still there. If you go to market village coming from town, it is just past it on the same side.

I bought a pair of reading glasses in the Top Charoen shop near to Burger King in the centre of town just two weeks ago and was quite impressed with the service.
The lady there did some kind of test with a laser device, the old style test cards on the wall and those glasses that you can try different lenses in to read some small print as in reading.
I've never had a pair of glasses before, (getting old!) so I can't really compare the testing with anywhere else but I thought they did a good job and was happy with the result.
The staff were pleasant and polite and not pushy either as the staff were in another shop I tried who were instantly showing me the most expensive frames as soon as I opened the door!

Suggest you go to the eye clinic om Petkasem, just opposite the Hua Hin Hospital. Highly qualified and capable eye doctor, attractive pricing. Don't rely on the sales staff of the opticians. They are in business to sell.....In Hua Hin as well as abroad.

I would certainly recommend Dr Pairat. He is quite thorough, uses modern diagnostic equipment, speaks very good English & very importantly, IMHO, is very honest. You will not be prescribed something you do not absolutely need. I have had Cataract Removal & Inter Ocular Lens transplants carried out recently by him in his clinic in Hua Hin with fantastic results. I thoroughly recommend him.

I think he is only open until lunchtime today and he does his operations on a saturday so you might be better going in the week. I cant remember his exact opening hours but on Monday to Friday he opens in the morning and then again in the evening. His phone number is 032 516 544 if that is any help.

Thanks Lily,

I'll ask my Thai interpreter (Wife) to ring before heading into town.

Not sure if this is the right thread so mods move if you have to

To all those concerned about eye problems

A few years back I had an eye problem and went for a check at the HH clinic. Diagnosis was cataracts and laser treatment or change of glasses every few months. Went for second opinion to the Bumrungrad in BK and a third opinion to the Rutnin eye specialist hospital in BK'

Ended up having laser treatment in both eyes and perfect vision for about 100K Bht. Full after care treatment and corrective treatment if needed

Recently had blurred vision in one eye so went for a check up to HH clinic. They confirmed that I had a slight shadow but recommended (quite rightly) that I should go back to Rutnin to have an examination

Went this week. After 6 high tech tests they recommended corrective laser treatment (polish a pupil) and they could do it any time. Done and dusted for the humongous sum of 5000 Bht

Can't fault the place at all and no wonder people fly in from all over the globe for the treatment
