Then your connection speed is about 25 Kbps and then you are not far from the good old 28.8K Modems we used in the 80's.
But it's not bad Jaime. Remember it's wireless!!

GPRS

Post by Mr Jame! »

I think we should be capable of much more than 2 or 3 KPbs through gprs . I think the network is limiting us. In UK we pay by the megabyte not per minute, so i think they have limited the speed so they can charge by the minute without using too much bandwidth. I was getting 9 or 10 kbps when using my uk orange (still quite slow) simcard which cost 8 pounds per megabyte on roaming!

Has anyone heard of a 12call speed restriction lock? I must try to look on google.

How about 3G - is it available and quicker? The only connection I get is GPRS.

Norseman - what is the relationship between download speed and connection speed? My One2Call status information tells me the connection is 57.6 Kbps rather than the 28 you mentioned.

Network communications is based on 8 bit lengths.
You have a download speed of appx 3 Kbps = 3000 bits pr second.
3000*8=24000 bits and that is 2400 Bytes pr sec. or 24 Kbps.

Not far away from the magic 28,8 Kbps.
