1st timers to HH, help please !
Hi,
We are planning to come to HH in mid November this year. We are staying in Bangkok first for a couple of days then propose to travel down to HH by bus .
Can anyone recommend decent, clean, modern accomodation possibly with a pool that they may have experienced ? We have checked out the old favourites like the Hilton, but feel we would rather spend more cash on going out than the digs ! Somewhere quite central and reasonably priced.
Any help is very much appreciated !
Cheers in advance.

Thipurai City is in the range of 2,000 baht/night, then there are Jed Phii Nong, P.P. Villa and Sailom all in 800-1500 price range. I've had many friends staying in Jed Phii Nong and if you get a room by the pool, they are really nice for this price range. There is also Central Village, which I figure to be somewhat expensive than the above mentioned ones.

Hi there Ally G
I would agree with the Bamboo Grove! Jed pee nong is good. Also Hua Hin house is nice, very clean rooms, central location, and has the use of a pool about 100m away. Good call on spending more on havin fun, the big hotels are over expensive and over rated - besides if you do the nightlife right you wont remember the room anyway!! Let us know when you are arriving and join us for a beer or seven!

1st timers to HH, please help
SAWADDEE KHRUP ALLY G,
If you would like a nice clean place on the beach and next to one of the royal residrences in HH, may IU suggest you look into Chom View resort. At Chom View you can either stay in the Townhome style units or in the hotel. If you should happen to choose Chom View may I suggest the townhome Garden view units, which have two berdrooms and a kitchette. Palus it also has an outdoor sitting area to enjoy the ocean breeze.

AlllyG, was in HH last June and stayed at the Hua Hin Suites (opposite the Sofitel in town).
Found the place to be good value, rooms were large and clean, had a min bar fridge and A/C.
There is a pool and poolside relaxing area with a small library of books and magazines. there is internet access in the office area and also breakfast was included in the price at Pappa Johns cafe that is also in that complex. There is also a cocktail bar and a steak house (was not open when I was there), adjacent to the hotel. Although we were there in low season, found it to be excellent value, the staff very friendly and the most important thing (2 mins walk to all the bars and cafes).
A word of warning about the bus trip. It takes three hrs and the buses are not the best. The one we travelled on had A/C but did not work for most of the journey. If you are on your own or do not have a GF or faimily with you it may be Ok. Although the cost is very cheap (128baht) one way, You have to weigh up whether it is better to shell out a bit more cash and take the Mini Bus or private transfer or have your GF and/or family giving you grief about how hot it is on the bus and/or how much longer have we got to go (every 15 mins). I can tell you from experience thet the latter does not make a pleasent trip.
I am not sure abouit the price of the mini bus (but if you search the forum, there are previous posts regarding that).
Other than the the best way is to organise a private transfer (that will normally cost between 2000-3000 baht one way).
hope this is a help and have a good trip.

Up to you
This must be one of the most common and widespread used statements in Thailand, or is it just me.
I would love to know what it really means
But thanks for the tip.
