I agree with Mr.Plum, Morsage and Takiab i believe that most of your life time you will be happy living with other people, things and wherever you go and stay.. 
mabubba--- i also believe in more mixing of cultures in future!! even now both good and bad habits from both Thais and farangs are adapted, like another forum said you are prefered to pay 500 Baht rather than come to BKK, some even say cheap or whatever.
Nowaday i learn a lot from falangs in here many good, bad, till worst habits like "talking" in this or other forums, some answering are nice, reasonable, respectable some are tempered, rude, insult other people and always believe that they came from developed countries!!
But they were not developed mind like those countries that they claimed!! 
. Probable when people get older and older they are hardly to change and learn..no matter Thais or farangs!! 
I wish i am a God to help Poosmate--i do sorry that i am not a full time worker or employee of Thai as you said.. I wish i have many wishes to helping you apart from what i recommend --wink wink
