Happy Toro Bar

Post by lekkim »

I have been reading a lot about this bar, and tried to compare the comments with my own experience in the bar. I have been there a couple of times and find it to be a nice place.

Sure i have seen all the girls standing outside, never talked to/with them, but have had some nice conversations with the girls behind the bar, they seem nice, offcourse they want us to buy drinks and stuff but thats easy to predict, the owner is danish and seems like a good guy who a are looking out for his bar.

The thing that pussles me....I have been there for a couple of evenings and seen men come and go, with or without girls, i have never seen these girls standing behind the bar leaving with anyone.!

Can they really make enough money just passing beers over the counter to provide for themselvs and there family....can anyone telle me how that works or am i totally wrong in my assesment.?

My guess, and I stand to be corrected, is that the girls out front are freelance and not paid, the girls behind the bar are employees, paid and duty bound to remain until the bar shuts

I know the boss and he is a shrewd businessman. If you need to contact him I have his email address and mobile number so pm me if needs be

Many bars operate on this principle. Sound thinking IMO as friendly staff bring repeat business and the bar makes more profit from selling you booze than you walking in and taking a girl who many customers may return to chat to and buy drinks for.

Just look at the logistics:

Walk in, buy a beer, buy one bar-girl drink, pay bar fine, walk out with girl. Bar take around 470Bht
Walk in, buy several beers and a few bar-girl drinks. Bar take at least 1000Bht.

On top of that while you are there the bar is looking busy and therefore attracting more curious visitors

My perception based on my limited knowledge of the HH bar scene

It makes sence....almost...maybe the bar makes money, but the girls don´t live on air. I know that some of the shots they sell, a small profit goes to the girl, that much i found out.

But it still pussles me that they can make enough money in contrast to the girls that leave with guys and maybe make 1000-1500 a night.

It's their choice

Some can live quite well with bar pay, accommodation, meals and money to send home. Far more than they would get living in a shack planting rice and reaping for 100 Bht a day.

The girls who sell their bodies are making hay while the sun shines. At the time they cannot pull anymore they are stuffed (Oops). A girl who works the bar as an employee and has a chance to become a cashier is way out in front.

Having said that a BG who sells her body is more likely to find a relatively rich farang to fill her coffers (Oops again) and she may even hook him for more and a long term relationship

You are right, it´s difficult to understand with our way of thinking, i also believe that i am the one with the prejudice that a girl working in a bar must sell her self to make a way of living. I just had the impression that there was no "normal" job in a bar like that, and when i compare to stories if heard from friends about girls in pattaya and bk this just dont fit in my impression of these girls.

Well it isn´t the first time i am wrong, and probably not the last.!

On the positive side of my holiday i was really impressed by their happy-go-lucky attitude and easy way of living, it really doesn´t seem that there situation is a burden for them, and that suprise me. Where i come from, girls who work these places have that sorrowful look in there eyes and you really have to be absolut hammered to go home with one of those.!

little time to edit so re-post. LEV more time edit time please as my Internet connection is like a yoyo

LK

Next time you are here go up country and see how they really live. It will shock you and you will realise how well the girls here are in clover

Since I have spent a lot of time in the northeast I have learnt about where they are coming from and understand their needs and my attitude to the BG has changed. To the point of refusal on my part

Some are asking 2k plus but it's end of season and punters dwindling but Thai logic is when the customer numbers go down put the prices up

Must say Lekkim that it's quite refreshing to read observations on the bar scene from someone who is clearly a first time visitor to HuaHin, and who seems to be looking at the situation - and the girls - a little differently to the norm, and taking time to really think about how it all works.
HH seems to have made a favourable impression - will you be back?
