Are there any specific guest houses around the 500 baht a night mark that offer discounts on a one month stay? I'm departing on the 22nd of June with Emirates and because I forgot to check the correct circle on the on-line booking form, I have to stay 8 hours overnight in Dubai instead of a I hour stopover.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

If Peter has no room at the Inn he could probably get you into a condo flat just out of town for 8 to 10K a month. He also has a good taxi service on tap. Door to door for 1800 Bht

Great stuff. Thank you so much for all the info. By the way, does anyone know a bloke about 44 years of age called Johnny Worral? He runs a bar in Hua Hin, but I'm afraid I've no idea of the name or location of it. He's an old school friend of mine who I haven't seen for 20+ years. A physically big chap I'm led to believe.

JW's is EL Murphys. I've just been told by a pal of mine who teaches in Kuwait and spends all of his holidays in Hua Hin. Sorted. Now I'll be meeting up with two old pals.

That's right - Murphs is Eddie - but JW isn't Johnny Worral.
If you stay somewhere central though it shouldn't be too difficult to ask around the expat bars and find your old friend. Despite being quite spread out now there's usually someone who knows someone who knows someone in HH.

You can check in at the airport hotel inside the transit area for some sleep and a shower instead of being idle in the lounge. It is actually very refreshing to break a journey that way.
As Richard pointed out Peter can book you a taxi service for 1800 baht i have used them twice, they will wait at the gate for you with your name on a cardboard sign, the most important thing is this company's drivers are good steady drivers unlike the majority that will frighten the life out of you by driving to fast or falling asleep at the wheel, (i have experianced both) .
I recommend to carry a small blue ice box for the road trips, you can nip up stairs in the airport buy four beers and enjoy your allmost 3 hour drive down to Hua Hin.
Kendo.
