The best Fish n' Chips in Hua Hin

Post by Farang »

One rides east to west (Phetaskasem to thanon Railroad) on soi 80. More or less on the middle of the block, on the left, there's a fish n' chip joint. It's an extension of Victoria on Phetskasem and it's called Victoria II (what else?). I've infested the place with my Presence frequently past two months and have eaten just excellent f & C several times already.

Good white fish, proper wedge chips and very tasty tartar sauce. Victoria II opens 05.50 PM and is open till late. Good grub, indeed!

Sounds like worth trying. Especially if the tartar sauce is anywhere near a good sauce remoulade. I shall give it a try at my earliest convenience.

Ive had fish and chips along with peas and buttered bread and a cup of tea there myself and its not bad if you can put up with listening to Barry moaning about the cost of everything whilst your eating. But on the whole its not bad food at a good price but not a patch on the fish and chips at Buffalo Bills.

Hang on, you're not Bill in disguise are you? Thats the 2nd post about eateries where you have slagged down the place others are reporting on, for the benefit of others, and then gone on to say his place is better! Didn't he used to be a sponsor on here? If he wants to plug his place, why doesn't he go about doing it the right way? And if his place is so wonderful why does it need your 'under the counter' plugs? Sounds fishy to me? (Pun intended)

sorry caller but I'm not Bill and I was not slagging Barrie's fish and chips off at all I did say the food was good and great value but not the best by far but you do get what you pay for and that's a fact, and as for Barry I don't mind him at all but he does go on and on.If you would like another comparison then as Richard has just commented lins on Petchakasam Rd is much better food and service than Barrie's and you don't have to listen to Barry and his gossip and moans which he offers whether you like it or not.

Wayne, I could respond to your last post, as there is an obvious 'why didn't you' in there, but as I don't want to give a certain establishment any more free PR, I will refrain.

I love good fish and chips and used to go to the one down from the Hilton (near the Chinese temple) and the one by the railroad tracks off Soi 68 which moved to a guest house off canal road.

What I would like to know is do any of the other places mentioned in this thread make the authentic English "beer battered" fish and chips. I hate the breading batter a lot of places use here.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

hhf

The 3 you mentioned were all run by Richard but I've seen or heard from him for months

Think Jungle Juice and Buff Bills are bear battered

I can honestly say that I had probably the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten at Buffalo Bills once and I have not been back since.

Where exactly, pray tell, on the Phetskasem, is the ever elusive Lins? Does anyone know? Has anyone really been there? Is there such a place as Lins?

Hi farang

Yes it does exist and I've seen people in there and know a couple of people who use it regularly.

Coming into town from the flyover, it's on the left just before you get to Soi Sarawat (soi 80).

Barry

It's between soi 80 and the Tessa ban if you are coming in from the south. Just 50 metres from the 711 on the corner of 80

Good grub and mega breakfasts and Sunday roasts every day.

Usual UK pub grub. Pies, curry and chips or rice, bacon butties and the like

Open 8am to 8 pm

I use it at least twice a week and prices cheap and always a large pot of tea (refillable) available too. Coffee nescafe though.
