Has anyone had cortisone injections in Hua Hin for joint inflammation? If so, when, where and how much did it cost?
Thanks!

I would be interested in that information, too. Could take care of another attack of gout, if any.hhfarang wrote:Has anyone had cortisone injections in Hua Hin for joint inflammation? If so, when, where and how much did it cost?

My wife, who is a nurse, say that cortisone do help against sever gout but she also says that it is something one should not take or inject unless it is prescribed by a doctor due to the bad side effects of cortisone.Lung Per wrote:Could take care of another attack of gout, if any.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I agree, cortisone should only be administered by a qualified physician.stgrhe wrote:My wife, who is a nurse, say that cortisone do help against sever gout but she also says that it is something one should not take or inject unless it is prescribed by a doctor due to the bad side effects of cortisone.Lung Per wrote:Could take care of another attack of gout, if any.

Re: Cortisone injections
I need the information because my wife did something chronic to her shoulder a few months ago. She has tried massage therapy but still has a very painful and near useless shoulder. I used to have the same problem because I overdid it in the gym trying to lift too much weight too fast. Since it's near impossible to immobilize a shoulder joint long enough for it to heal, these injections are about the only treatment that can reduce the inflammation.
I don't know that they would recommend cortisone shots for gout. There are other medications and dietary measures for that (I used to have that too, and cured it with only a few dietary changes; mainly limiting red meat and rich sauces and gravys to a couple of times a month and nearly eliminating deep fried foods, (as I'm from the south in the U.S. deep fried is the way 90% of cooking was done when I was growing up!)).
I guess it's up to a proper hospital in Bangkok for the wife's shoulder problem. I was hoping to avoid that trip. Maybe I'll call Petcharat and see if they have an orthopedist on staff who does it.

Have you tried the physiotherapy clinic on 88/1 (up the side of Market village)?hhfarang wrote:I guess it's up to a proper hospital in Bangkok for the wife's shoulder problem. I was hoping to avoid that trip. Maybe I'll call Petcharat and see if they have an orthopedist on staff who does it.
I've got the number if you want it.

Yes BaaBaa, thanks for asking. Being a golfer and knowing that that is where most of the golfers go when they have back problems, that's the first place I took her. While some may get good results from that clinic, they actually made my wife's shoulder worse after a few visits. The pain became even more unbearable and the flexibility became less.Have you tried the physiotherapy clinic on 88/1 (up the side of Market village)?

Then we tried another massage therapist that uses a gentler technique and it provided temporary relief, but by the next day the problem was back as bad as usual.
That's why I'm looking for the injections now. I've had them before for the same (shoulder) problem and it worked after a few and giving up lifting and golf for a few years.
