This may explain your 15 baht fee Sarge.

Some banks are reducing the 150 baht fee for making a withdrawal at a local ATM machine with a foreign ATM card from 150 baht to a much more reasonable 15 baht. One such bank is Siam Commercial Bank which is fortuitous as you seem to see more branches of SCB than any other bank. The announcement can be seen HERE

I used the Bank of Ayudhya ATM near soi 41 a few days ago and that also showed the 15 baht message, but still no receipt. Up until then there had never been a message or charge at any of that bank's branches, nor a receipt.

The Bank of Ayudhya nearest my house charges 150 baht, not 15... :?

I would drive up there to use your ATM, but it can take 30 minutes and would probably use more gas round trip (in my SUV) than the 135 baht saved!

I still think this may have something to do with which country your card is from, or possibly which bank(s), as until the 15 baht charge recently, I have never had any charge at that bank's machines, wherever they have been located.

The Bank of Ayudhya one there (the yellow one on the extreme left) charges me 150 baht. I'd be interested to see if it is the same for you or if it is just picking on me (like everything else in Thailand! :D :D :D  )

hhf,
I have used that one before, and (before the 15 baht charge) have never had the 150 baht fee. Out of interest, what bank is your ATM card from? I know that sarge uses a Nationwide one, and mine is a Barclays one, which are both UK banks, and I am assuming that you have a US one, so it would be interesting to hear from other people which bank, where from and what charge they get.

Drop in some time and ill show you :D :D

Anyway i still reckon its cos we are at the poor end of the spectrum

Bank of America... it is a debit/Visa card. I also get charged $5 from them and 1% from Visa (currently around $6 for a 20,000 baht withdrawal). Add that to my Bank of America $20 monthly checking account fee and the 150 baht Bank of Ayudhya fee and I'm paying between 80 and 90 U.S. dollars per month in banking fees just to get my pension over here!
