I guess Steve means Khanom seafood. Overpriced and average quality!
eg. Gang keo wan (~250Bht) better at Suanson for 50Bht!!!!!!
Have a look at the cars in the car park - says a bit!
BUT everyone has their own particular likes re:food.
Will comment that service was good however!

I think it's called something like Khanam and the quality of the food is excellent. All the seafood we ordered was of the highest standard and obviously cooked from very fresh produce. Also the restaurant itself is very well fitted out and has been equipped with such things as facilities for wheel chairs which is a rare sight in Asia.
And for those who are on the lookout for the quality of the WC's, these are huge and of good five star hotel standards.
If you're referring to this post, charlesh, you're going back a bit. When the place was being built Mrs D-M thought it was going to be a bus terminal. It still looks like one. When we realised what it was, I asked if she'd like to eat there, and she told me I must be kidding - overpriced and average, just as you said.

But to be fair to Steve and to the restaurant neither claim it's a bargain, and if the service and facilities are as good as claimed, then that's what you're paying for. If you choose to.

In my experience the restuarants that do not display all the prices on their menu is because some ( usually prawn and fresh fish) prices can vary depending on that days market price.
I suppose for the likes of Norm etc. they should print new menus daily as asking the staff is too difficult

Winkie wrote: Without a doubt, Bpak Klong. In fact I would say that this is (everytime) the best Thai Seafood I've tasted anywhere in Thailand. Always a little pricey (they do not put prices in the menu, the sign on the wall tells you not to ask the price, and if you do, they don't tell you!). But a wide variety of absolutely wonderful, very fresh ,beautifully prepared dishes.
Asking the staff would appear to be quite easy - it's getting an answer that's difficult...

If you brush up on your reading skills poosmate you will note that Winkie said they would not tell you if you ask. But you go ahead and eat there we don't care. :butt:

Yes poosmate, and when they charge you 10,000 baht for a Chang beer (they could if they won't tell you the prices) then I hope you'll be happy to pay up.

G'Day All
Went to La Mar/La Mer Restaurant (can't remember spelling)
Somewhere near Takiab. With a name like that thought it might be Italian, turned out to be a Thai seafood restauarant (I was the only falang there) Good food, good service & Great view of Hua Hin. The ride up & down in a Tuk Tuk is like a roller coaster, especially after two or six Singha's.All in all a great time had by all, can't remember cost.

:D :D

At Black Mountain Golf Course you can order what they call a fillet on toast for only 320 baht, lunch or dinner. The location and atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful even if you could care less about golf.

Not only is this a great price for a nice fillet but it is one of the best I've had in Thailand......with a nice salad and fries, and they serve it for both lunch and dinner.

Second place goes to Banyon Golf Course where they have a hamburger that would serve as both breakfast and lunch it is so huge. It comes with bacon, egg and potatoes which honestly you could separate from the burger and have two great meals.

Both of these golf course venues are well worth the drive for both the food and thier beautiful settings.

Since we're in Thailand my favorite Thai food can be found at Sirin Hotel....both delicious and inexpensive.

Oh, and not to forget Delize for the best Italian in Hua Hin and of course, for us Californian/Mexicans Franks unbelievably delicious tacos and burritos at Baja Taco.

Now, if only someone would open up an American style Chinese restaurant................

Thanks for the correction Baa Baa, my bad. I saw the Aug 31 post about the closing.

Boy, time flies.....I didn't think it had been that long since our last visit.

The longer we stay in Cha Am the less we end up going in to Hua Hin. Our nearly daily visits to Market Village have turned into monthly ones.

Oh....almost forgot now that I'm thinking of it. The little restaurant across from the Villa entry gets a vote from me. The boss doesn't think too much of it but I like everything I've tried there and you can't beat the prices.

Has anyone tried the new Banyon restaurant?

I like the NA NA PALACE - one of the small booth eateries on Poolsuk Road (market end across from Lucky Lukes). The thai food is always fresh and tasty and relatively cheap.

For a steak its always Eddys EL MURPHYS - great steak and great live music while you eat.

Other than that I plod down the canal road to MR BURGER and get some cheap western and thai eats.

I could bloody murder a killer extra large shish kebab with extra chilli sauce and a lime green radioactive jalapeno pickle or four tho. Ah well, Bourne End soon.....

If you have been to Thailand before and are returning looking for resaurants the ones that are still standing are your best bet to being satisfied (duh haha) I've been here some time now and made a few friends who always enjoy going back to the small local restaurants when they get time to visit. I would stick to open air places in the middle of town. Always enjoyable.
