Quote"This post isn't directed at you sarge, I'm just pointing out that yes, some of us who have done nothing wrong do feel a bit shitty with the way we're treated."
Yes i piggin well do feel that way
but put the blame squarely at the feet of the people responsible the ones that break and disregard the visa rules and laws

To me If you come here to get married you meet the requirements or go home
If you take the girl home (or even if she stays here and you support her)time married in your own country should count

After 3/5 years of proved marriage/support you should get what a farang women gets 24 hrs after saying i do

In your case and if you qualified under combined income the Thai authorities should have grandfathered you in on that. Why they havent i know not but i do feel for you

Let me quote ME from this thread and another one"To Quote one member to me when i asked what would happen if the exchange rate fell and i couldnt meet the 800,000
Close the door on my way out was his answer "
Guess what not one person said anything about that then even though i am sure he was refering more to what he thought immigration would do

In my fifth year (my 11th year here and 27 years married to a Thai) i did not meet the retirement visa requirement by £55.80 point zero dot diddly on an exchange rate going up and down like a hookers drawers
I then had to jump hoops crawl under barbed wire and start a marriage visa from scratch as if i had just climbed of the boat

I didnt write to the bangkok post or the nation and this is about the OP 2 yes two whole years that is a HUGE difference to 10 and a couple of kids and from mars to venus from 27 years and i do meet the requirements
and yes if i dont and it gets to 27.77 i will have to leave every 3 months

It is the never ending no goal in sight and not seeing that dim light at the end of the tunnel because of lawbreakers that gets to me
A Greatfull Guest of Thailand

Give it a rest, sarge - you keep making the same point again and again. Never mind the blank face, where's the 'yawn' icon? Farang husbands don't get treated appropriately, we all seem to agree on that. Some think the rules are harsh, you think it's down to murderers and child molesters (hey, if you can exaggerate, so can I). Time to move on, perhaps?
This is the way

silly me i did not realise every single job in this country was dependant on a farang
sarge,
Sorry to shout and swear, but
STOP F***ING NITPICKING!
You should know full well that I meant 'no jobs created for anyone by farangs' because of the context of the statement.

Oh and just whose jobs are they NOT going to take
Because you dont and clevererly/polititionally avoided answering quote me "does income come into it at all"

I know and have in my family back in blighty one who would be here on the hour and have a wife 30 seconds later if he could and he is a fully qualified hairdresser
Thailand is desperate for hairdressers opticians and mobile phone salesmen give me a break

sorry WL but whatever you are smokin is self interested hallucinaton

The Thais are not that daft thank god
yes those that are genuine and honest and have proved it over a period of time should recieve some recognition
But that will only happen when the oracle workers conmen crooks and wasters are defeated
And the rest of your post tells me that you didn't understand a word I wrote about there being a stringent investigation when someone first applies for an extension, but maybe that should be when they first apply for a non O visa? Either way it was an idea that would of course need to be worked on if it were ever to be adopted, but it would sure beat the hell out of the current system. And in my view would benefit the Thais as well - more taxes, more jobs and a happier group of Thais who have farang husbands who don't have to keep going away every 3 months spending money in other countries. I have to say that I think your examples are mostly one offs and not the norm, but these one offs are a very good reason to change the system, to either stop them at the first hurdle, or quite possibly discover that they might actually benefit the country.
