Actually like many Asian seafood restaurants, it gets expensive if you order stuff that doesn't have a price next to it; but give it try because it is very good and there are items on the menu that are not so expensive.
It's very new and it will get better when the garden matures a bit, they've built a small lake that hasen't established itself yet.
I've been told that the owners spent 50 million baht on this restaurant which makes you're average girly bar on Bintabhat look a bit lame!

Thanks for the info Steve,

I also live (less than) 5 minutes from there but haven't tried it yet. I thought from the size of the parking lot that it was one of those places that targets tour buss groups with cheap Thai buffets.

I will put it on my list for the next special occasion out with the missus.

Hi , we tried this place in early August, there were 7 of us and we ate seafood and other thai food, trying to eat the menu I think, including prawns to be priced on weight and a bottle of wine , plus beers soft drinks etc. the bill was just over 5000 baht. Every dish was excellent, only drawback was it was very large and there was only 3 other tables, still good service.

We also tried the Beach Cafe one lunch time and again very good with a nice view of the beach for a change, another good addition. :thumb:

One important one I forgot for Western and Thai food at very good prices:

Natta (on Soi 88 across from Markwin Lodge)

Try the 295 baht steak with Pepper sauce or Bearnaise sauce (with included steamed veggies and baked potato with garlic butter!)

Without a doubt, Bpak Klong. In fact I would say that this is (everytime) the best Thai Seafood I've tasted anywhere in Thailand. Always a little pricey (they do not put prices in the menu, the sign on the wall tells you not to ask the price, and if you do, they don't tell you!). But a wide variety of absolutely wonderful, very fresh ,beautifully prepared dishes.
Personally I would never eat in a place that would not tell me the price of the food. If they are ashamed of the price I figure it is to high. So I would

Yes, Natta is good and he is also a very pleasant person to talk too.

No worries Norm, up to you.

Wonderful food, really probably the best I've ever tasted in Thailand.

Have been several times, will go again soon.

I agree with Norm on this. That's absolutely absurd! I've been to restaurants that didn't have prices on the menu but they certainly would tell you the price if you asked. Ordering a meal without being allowed to know how much you are going to be charged is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... even in Thailand... and that's saying something!

For me

Coco 51 if you have the dosh (soi 51 by the gulf)
Khun Oy if you have less dosh ((soi 88 over the railway line then immediate left to soi 94. )

both excellent for Thai and farang food

I do agree that khun Oy have excellent Thai food but I do not give much for the farang food they try to cook.

As for Coco 51 I got food poisoned there last Saturday night. I had a pan fried sea bass, I have eaten it several times there before, but this time it had an odd taste and I should have known better and sent it back. I didn't and that cost me a bad expereince.

Couldn't have put it better myself, what an absurd idea, I'm surprised they have a single customer.

:agree: I'd never find out how good it was if they weren't prepared to tell me the price. The most ridiculous business strategy I've ever heard.

Mind you, the person who went there, stayed there, and is going again, could help out by giving us a rough idea - or would that cause him/her to be barred from the place?
