IS THIS TRUE?
Time to ask those who know..................
I was informed by a Brit colleaugue today that back in ol' Blighty, it is now no longer allowed to produce Christmas Cards with the familiar
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"
Because it might offend certain sections of the community.
These cards must now say
"Festive greetings " etc etc.

Christmas is a religious holiday. They should all be banned!

I'm confused here. Why should 'certain sections of the community' want to celebrate a Christian festival? December 25th means something to those who were brought up in a Christian country. If it doesn't fit in with their calendar of celebratory events, then they can just ignore it.
Thanks Terry, it's nice to be reminded why I'm living here...

I cannot believe this will happen, the Daily Mail would have made a big fuss! It is rarely the religeous minorities who object to anything connected with Christmas, more like the left leaning local councils who see this section of the community as voting fodder who need sucking up to. (Please excuse the grammar.)

I'm not a christian and coudn't give a hoot about christmas. For me its just an unesessary hassle getting into work...
As im now on a rant, why is it that most people in the UK want to get married in a church even though they aren't practicing christians? It smacks of hypocracy.
Marriage is a religious ceramony. If you aint a regular god bod then just get married in a reg office.
The marriage thing is a pet rant of mine...

The PC liberal lunatics must have got bored and decided to remind everyone how silly they are. The majority celebrate christmas in the UK, those that don't recognise it can just ignore it, Chinese New Year etc doesn't bother me, just ignore it if I can't be arsed with it.

Live and let live I say, but it seems that very few people in the progressive west feel that way nowadays. Everyone's an extremist, racist, or religious nut and nobody can put up with anyone who thinks or acts or looks any different than themselves! Sad times!

I've just googled it and came up with some cards for sale http://www.christmas-cards.org.uk/briti ... tm?index=4.

There was something similar happen last year in the UK and also here in Australia where schools were not allowed to do nativity plays or have xmas celebrations for fear of upsetting the muslims and other minority ethnic races.

Here is a clip from another story from last year
"Our Government believes that every Victorian child should be allowed the opportunity to participate in Christmas celebrations," he said.
"That's why this year I am again encouraging schools and kindergartens across the state to look at what appropriate opportunities there are for their pupils to get involved in Christmas activities such as concerts, pageants, carols and Christmas tree decorating."
Mr Brumby's call for Christmas cheer follows moves away from traditional year-end celebrations at some primary and high schools in Victoria.
One Melbourne primary school cancelled its carols concert and encouraged pupils to sing nursery rhymes and pop songs instead.
Some schools have banned students from bringing Christmas cards to school or avoided celebrating the festive season for fear it would offend parents from other religious backgrounds.
A northern suburbs school outlawed carols, Christmas wrapping paper and festive greetings such as "Merry Christmas".
Several Melbourne kindergartens have replaced Santa, tinsel and nativity scenes with fairytale parties and non-religious celebrations.
Also I remember one certain English council when the last world cup or Euro cups was on, banned all of the workers trucks from being allowed to display union jack flags on their vehicles for fear of inciting racial hatred.
Just found this as well to do with the Met Police banning flag displays

So with those situations in mind, I could easily understand it to be true that some PC Plonker Public Servant with nothing better to do than to come up with such a crazy idea.
My opinion is, if you move and live in another country different to where you were born, you have two choices. You like the place and live their according to that countries laws and customs.
If you do not like it and do not want to live that countries laws and customs, get out of that country and leave all the people that live their in peace to enjoy their lives and go back to wherever it was you came from.
If you bleat persecution etc if you have to return, so what. You were given a second chance to start again, but chose not to live by that countries laws and customs.
Why should those that choose to live peacefully together in that country, have to have their lives and customs changed for the minorities who have been given another chance in life to start again and get a better life for themselves, but choose only to moan about it.
I for one can see no sane reason why.
