I am happy for Arsenal not having to go to Russia or Ukraine although both Alkmaar and Olymipakos can be tough away games.

They certainly were for old Bergkamp :D

I'd be happy to go to Kabul (yeah I know it isn't) to watch Spurs in the CL

It looks like Eduardo could get a two game ban. HERE

Ridiculous really when it would have only been a yellow card offence in the first place.

It's good to see that Vidic got away with slapping Rodallega because the footage wasn't clear enough. :?

Some people say that Referees (every weekend), the FA, UEFA and FIFA are completely inept. I don't know where they get it from. Image Image

Ridiculous? Music to my ears - deserves every minute of the ban and probably a lot more. Blatant cheating in my mind. However, a video ref could have sorted the whole thing there and then.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

They're trying two extra officials in the Europa League (New Uefa Cup) this year, One official basically just stays around each goal line.

i bet you didn't have that attitude when owen 'fell over' :D against argentina in the world cup a few years back?
the premier league is full of divers & they're not all foreign either.

but how do you justify a 2 match ban? considering had the ref deemed it to be a dive, eduardo would have been just yellow carded :?
that's what's ridiculous!!! :|

it is cheating but we've had more than our fair share against us over recent seasons.
like i said, swings & roundabouts

Its not a dig at the club, or even Eduardo. It's professional footballers as a whole. They get paid outrageous money to bring their vast footballing talent to the field, and they take the easy way out by cheating, rather than playing football.

A video ref could force them to use the skills they are being paid to bring to us.

Remember, I watch most football as a neutral, and couldn't really give a toss who wins or loses. I want to watch football, not cheats.

UEFA are setting a precedent here, retrospective punishment is only applied when the referee does not see the incident, in this case his judgement was a penalty and that should have been the end of the matter. Not that I am a biased Arsenal fan of course.

I partly agree with you BB but what I'm getting sick of is inconsistent referees.

Every time I've watched my club this season there has been blatantly wrong decisions and every weekend there is a huge talking point about a wrong decision.

They seem to be gradually getting worse and worse.

I will guarantee a contentious decision this weekend in the Premier League alone.

And for what it's worth, why is Eduardo being made an example of?

It reminds me of the Mascherano case at Old Scaffold, a case of randomly coming down hard on one player who's done nothing particularly out of the ordinary to prove a point, then back to normal the week after.

The FAs "respect campaign" boiled down to banning Mascherano for getting pissed off that Ferdinand was allowed to kick the shit out of Torres and not get pulled up on it, then the campaign finished.

Wankers run the game IMO!

I'll also guarantee, if it was Rooney he wouldn't be getting a ban.

But United players are allowed to constantly harass and abuse the ref with no consequences.

Rooney also gets away with raising his hands and near leg breaking tackles because "He's Passionate and you can't take away that part of his game"

:cuss:

And I wont go into what purple nose gets away with. Image

Exactly :agree: , but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Referees are only human, and should be given the technology that has long been available to make it a level playing field. If that happened then the cheating element would be difficult to execute.

As for the punishment - make it severe for all cheats. Eduardo's recent cheat could have cost Celtic millions - what punishment would a bank robber have got for stealing that sort of money? Lets get back to playing football.

And more importantly, let's get this thread back to the Champions League.

I think I've read that Platini doesn't want 'video ref's', but he sure seems to use the technology after the fact when determining to suspend a player. Pete

Mascerano is a petulant little gob shite who wanted to have a go at everyone after being sent off in that match,Steve Bennet had had enough of him mouthing off all the time.Even his team mates could not control him and he had to be dragged off the pitch by the fat Spanish waiter.

As another point of fact Liverfool had Mellor and Gerrard sent off in the 2003 Amsterdam tournament and had their bans overturned by the FA.
In 2006 United had Scholes and Rooney sent off in the same tournament and both served 3 match bans at the start of the season.
The FA and Premier league obviously have a different agenda for some clubs.
Glory! Glory! Man Utd.
