It's a shame that Arsenal had to cheat their way to their first goal. That made it 3 - 0 overall, and to much for Celtic to pull back.

If there's any justice, Arsenal will receive some significant punishment for cheating. Another call for the video ref.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

as if it made much difference
yes, eduardo took a dive but he's hardly the first player to do it  :|
we've had our fair share of contentious penalty decisions against us in recent years, like most clubs have :(

in real time & at first viewing it looked a nailed on pen, so the ref can't really be blamed.
a video ref could have probably sorted that one out in about 20 seconds.

decision = goal kick & yellow card for eduardo.
considering that, donati's call for eduardo to be banned for 2 games seems a bit extreme :?

as if it made much difference Rolling Eyes
At 2 - 0, it made a huge difference. Celtic were playing quite well, and stood every chance. At 3 - 0, it was extremely unlikely that they could come back.

actually they played quite well over the 2 legs, unfortunately they just didn't look like scoring & rarely threatened to :?
to say they stood every chance was a bit hopeful imho. :|

Arsenal deserved to go through over the two legs, they played well in both without being brilliant but they were most impressive at the back.

Vermaelen is a new signing who looks good and Gallas playin like a new player could be good for them.

It was a shame to see Eduardo's dive considering they were in such a commanding position.

But these things are supposed to even themself out so if Manchester United find a big slice of luck on Saturday at Old Trafford at a crucial time, there can be no arguements from the Arsenal faithful.

I think Arsenal have got a very good team and they are well equipped to win the Champions League this year, and it would be good to see there sometimes brilliant football rewarded with a major trophy and for Wenger to prove you dont need to spend over the odds for players to be successful.

Lets see what the draw throws up today!!

Any takers on Manchester United & Real Madrid being in the same group

Well, looking at that, all 4 English clubs should really be looking to win their group let alone qualify, they have been gifted the advantage of straight forward ties. I know there are some good teams there and some tough away games but they should all be able to qualify without too many problems if they are to have any realistic chance of winning it.

As for Rangers, you couldn't have dreamed of a better tie. But still are they really good enough?? We will see.

I'd say Arsenal got the luck of the draw, they should breeze it.

Chelsea drew the best team in pot 3 and got a tricky trip to Porto but should qualify.

United got the short straw from pot 4, the German Champions, and a few tricky away games but the group as a whole should be a stroll.

Liverpool have Lyon (The 3rd biggest spenders in Europe besides City and Real) and Fiorentina, probably the trickiest group all round but should qualify.

Rangers got a decent draw and should get second.

As for the 2 big Spanish and 2 big Italians. :lach:

Group C is a right Bastard.

I just wished they'd thrown in Wolfsburg from pot 4 and you would have the ultimate group of death.

Just found out United have to go to russia a few days before they play Liverpool. :thumb:

Also, why are the German Champions in pot 4? :? :? :?

The rankings are done on Uefa ranking for the last 5 years (Performances in European competition over the last 5 years).

Wolfsburg have rarely made it into Europe over that time, that is why they're down there. And for instance, AC Milan who were not in it last year were ranked higher than Real Madrid as they had a good run in the UEFA Cup to boost their rankings.
