Actually, I never rate the Lions as a decent team. I know that in theory they are the best of the UK's best, but I've not been that impressed in recent years - even when they win. I'd rather watch Egland play badly, building towards another World Cup succes than risk injury to valuable English talent - sorry, I know that I'm in a very small minority, but I consider Lions games as little more than a circus sideshow. :duck:

Whilst I'll have to forego your kind offer of a bet - I'm not a gambling man anyway (never even bought a lottery ticket), I'll gladly buy you a beer or 2 next time I'm out.

Say what you like about Rugby but at least its a real mans game not like girlball, played by overpaid brylcremed women who haven't won anything worth winning since 1066 when king harold was in steptoe and son...

There is one good thing about nancyball it keeps all their neanderthal supporters locked up in special enclosures every saturday and charges them for the privilage.Priceless... :lach: :lach:

ooh Randy - an unpopular view I'm sure amongst the football bars of Hua Hin, but you are sooooo right.....

overpaid, protected from society, living in a fantasy world, apart from the odd match, or the odd goal, 'the beautiful game' is actually 'the boring ugly game'. full of thugs. (with the exception of some pundits like Gary Lineker and Garth Crooks).

reminds me of a famous phrase about 3 sports.

"Soccer a thugs game played by thugs, Rugby a thugs game played by Gentlemen, Cricket a gentlemens game played by Gentlemen."

Football maybe boring in your opinion but I'm of the opinion that Cricket and Rugby are boring, not to mention absolutely shit, so I'm right.

maybe

I'd like to know what makes you think that though. Being a Plymouth Argyle football supporter I'm used to failure. The only time I lost interest in any English National side was when Steve McLaren was in charge of the football team.

I've travelled all over Europe watching the football team, I've watched league football at 79 Football League grounds (and several Scottish grounds) and watch English Rugby whenever I can - right down to U.13 level.

As I said, not much time for the Lions - IMHO a circus sideshow.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

BaaBaa, you don't have to start behaving like your Avatar. :D :D

Your a football head, thats fine. Im a Rugby head, thats fine too. Randy is a balanced head,. at the end of the day, were all 'headcases'.

I think we should close down the 6 Nations thread until next year. What ya think.

Don't raise to the bait BaaBaa, its pure jealosy of the far more skillful entertaining and downright better sport of football. Thats why players get paid so so much!!!! They get paid the market rate for such a popular sport.
Beats me that you can watch hooligans playing rugby, violating the rules by punching, biting poking thumbs in eyes, pulling hair etc etc and in the warped mind of a rugby follower its deemed ok but its the folks who follow football who are the thugs?????
Basically the main objection in this game is to chase a testicle shaped ball and put your head up the arse of the bloke bent down in front of you!!!!! Says it all really :D

What's the old saying....football is played by gentlemen and watched by thugs and Rugby is played by thugs and watched by gentlemen. :P Pete

Not quite sure why so many people feel it has to be one thing or the other; I enjoy watching both, though I prefer rugby. Bit of a nightmare last weekend, when Spurs v Chelsea and England v Scotland were on at pretty much the same time. The remote took a hammering, but favoured the rugby by a long way, then the dilemma was resolved by UBC losing the football altogether...

I think one of the things that stands out for me is the difference in attitude of players to ref and vice versa. I would love to see the petulance knocked out of top soccer players.

Anyway, we've been round this block a few times before... they're totally different sports with very different skills.
This is the way

"Football played by thugs" !?!? someone's stuck in the 70's.
I'm a football fan, well sorta (Spurs) and my main gripe is that it's now played by prima-donnas who roll around at the slightest hint of a touch. I'm talking generally ofcourse, say 70% of them.

I can watch most sports but never got into rugby, the main objective seems to be to cause scrums so the players can smell each other's bums. Then they deliberately collapse that scrum several times to prolong the sniffing. Never understood it.
Do respect how rugby players can punch their opponents one minute and sniff them the next, no animosity, shake hands after the game instead of bleating and pulling hair in the tunnel like footballers after a dirty match.

But as people said everyone can watch what they want, but socca is the most popular national sport in the UK and the world by miles, the critics can't dispute that.

6 nations rugby

Post by Arcadian »

Most of the critics of rugby usually prefix their post with "I don`t understand rugby but" then proceed to write a load of uninformed b******s. There are plenty of things I don`t understand so I don`t comment on them thus making myself sound a complete prat.

I'd say if you don't comment on them then you do not make yourself sound anything

Joking aside I agree with that and the reason they do not understand the rules of the particular sport is because they do not like it, so never got to understand the off-side or LBW rules etc.

The Welsh tried hard but at the end of the day the best team won. Up the Irish, great day, great ground, great atmosphere. 8)
